Just thought I'd join to give a bit of an opinion on Aouchiche. Technically he's a really good footballer. Due to injuries he spent a lot of his time with us out on the left wing, which probably explains the lack of goals. Even when it was obvious that he wasn't going to be part of the plans, he always gave 100% whenever he was called upon and had a brilliant attitude. Probably lacks that bit of pace that can make all the difference in terms of making it at the very top, but he's a good passer of the ball, creative if given any time on the ball, and can play in a few positions. Suspect he'd see himself as a 10 but he's one of those players who you can probably use anywhere in midfield. When we sent him out on loan last season a lot of our fans thought we should have kept him in and around the squad due to being a good option who never let us down. I expect you'll find almost every Sunderland fan has nothing but good things to say about the lad and, if he feels at home in Aberdeen, I think he could be very effective. Will be looking out for him and hope he does well, even if he ends up moving away permanently. Find him a settled position, have runners around him, and you'll have yourself a very good player, best of luck9 points

I read on here regularly but it's years since I posted. Anyway, one of the best Dons' days I've had, greetin' at the actual game along with a few other oldies and still buzzing. What a support and great to see that mainly comprising teens and kids. I hope they get to see a few more days like that, I'm so grateful that I have.8 points

Hello Aberdonians - as a fellow Scot, living in Bucharest. I’d like to share what information I can - which I hope may be of use, and indeed make for a smooth and enjoyable trip! If anyone has any questions, about anything related to the City, FCSB, transport, nightlife, do’s and dont’s etc - please feel free to ask. Airport Arrival/Transport in City: There are 2 main options. Cheapest -Train directly outside arrival terminal to Gara De Nord (main train station in the city - and metro is linked from their too) Train is not as frequent (every 40 mins) but only 20 mins to Gara De Nord station and around 6 Ron (like £1.50) Taxi - as soon as you exit the arrivals doors from getting luggage - on the left are ticket machines to get a Taxi number (all machines in English) and then you wait outside the terminal doors (a matter of yards away) and wait for your taxi number to arrive (registration of car is printed on your ticket) These are the AUTHORISED taxi companies and all on a meter (roughly 50/60 Ron (£10/15 to city centre) - DO NOT pay anything more than roughly that - if they ask for a lot more - make a fuss! But less likely if you take a registered taxi! UBER/BOLT - possible, but not allowed to pick up outside terminal - so need to walk to pick up area outside of airport. METRO SYSTEM: It’s a good one! Cheap, reliable and frequent. Best way for getting around the city as traffic is busy in the daytime. Tickets can be bought in all stations and as it’s so cheap - good option is to buy a ‘multi trip’ ticket for around (20 Ron) £5 and gets you 10 trips. NEAREST METRO Stations to Ground (walking distance) Piata Iancului Piata Muncii Accommodation Booking.com/Air BnB etc all available. In my eyes - two options (City Centre) nearest to Old Town - most expensive. Change metro line from Blue to Yellow Or slightly out of main centre but on best link to Ground via metro or taxi, plus near main Train Station (sector 1) - Options directly out of station are Ibis Gara De Nord and Hello Hotel (both main chains and you know what you’re going to get) - simple stuff! Metro to the ground from this area is around 10 mins) (on yellow line) Old Town or (Lipscani) Romanian name for area - is the busiest and most lively - but comes with highest prices and scammers etc! Good honest bar which is British owned is called Mojo - sport on TV, karaoke etc. https://mojomusic.ro/ Option nearest the Train Station is arguably one of the best traditional Pubs in Bucharest - Dubliner Irish Pub. It’s the closest you’ll get to back home, quite a large ex-pat community of Scots too! A few Aberdonian’s working in the oil industry here. Multiple TV screens for sport - bespoke darts room (9 boards) great Irish Breakfast and pub food (cottage pie) Guinness, Kilkenny, Peroni, Ursus and Kozel on draught and then all the other usual spirits, shots etc. https://dubliner.ro/menu/ Piata Victoriei and Gara De Nord nearest metro stations to Dubliner Irish Pub and 10 mins to ground. There’s a lot more could add - but this is for starters - please feel free to ask anything you want! Enjoy your trip and hopefully you’ll be going into it with a nice first leg lead!7 points

I'm very glad that I can watch the Dons most weeks and then switch off to all other football (Scotland aside). I do watch the occasional game on the telly (rarely a whole game), mainly the BBC Friday night championship, but there's not a single game in any competition that I feel I must watch. I often think that people (colleagues etc, rather than folk on here) think that I'm pretending when I say I couldn't care less about English football or champions league pish. Because I'm a football fan, I must automatically be attracted to the biggest league or tournaments (I do watch international tournaments, it still holds some enjoyment for now). They'll reel off some name of some famous English based player, and I genuinely won't have a clue who they're talking about. With this world club pish, I have no idea what it is and who it involves (I have some idea, but it's guesswork based on the name and your post). Football mirrors the rest of the world in that it views quantity as progress. More games, more money, bigger transfer fees, fitter players, stronger players etc etc. It's safe to say that football hasn't progressed at all in the last 35 years (bookended by two famous cup wins). It's just that the measures of progress are abstract and hollow, and have absolutely nothing to do with what sport means and its enjoyment. Hopefully this shite will be the tipping point* that starts the much needed collapse of the game (again, mirroring society). The saturation point reached. *alongside VAR of course6 points

Most of the United fans on the pitch were just kids. Had the chair hit its intended target, could have been a lot worse. Singing about hating the Huns then proceeding to act like Huns. Gads.6 points

At 3-0 down, he'll receive a second booking for kicking the ball away. As he walks off, he slips in the steadily forming puddle of his manager's tears, landing on a water bottle which ruptures his bum crack*, putting him out of action for six years. As he lies on the ground, Rubi commandeers the phone of a willing spectator in order to take a thumbs up selfie in the foreground of the injured Hun. The image goes viral. *I'm not a medical professional6 points

Couldn't sleep very well last night and ended up getting up at 5 am this morning. Treated myself to watching the game, penalty shout out, presentation and aftermath in its entirety. It just keeps on getting better and better and something I will never tire of watching5 points

I’ve watched the penalties at least once a day pretty much. Cannot tell you how proud of the team I am, what a game. But what gets me going is the fans. The noise, the passion, the red army. What an amazing support. I’m assuming it was a 50/50 split but the noise doesn’t suggest that, our fans were outstanding. Congrats to all of you. Don’t take seeing us live on a weekly basis for granted! i was finishing my 6th year at lanark grammar in 1990. Worked in John Menzies all Saturday and taped the 90 final, managed to go the whole day without hearing the score, only for the video to run out midway through the second half of extra time. can’t believe that was 35 years ago. This one has been amazing, never got to see the 2014 league cup final live, watched this one on red tv with my 88 year old dad who was over here visiting. been over here full time since 1995. Ive been to pittodrie 4 times in my life, last time I think it was dean windass scoring the winner against Dundee utd in 1998. Freezing that day, surprisingly. As a fan went to most away grounds, Aberdeen when you’re a kid in lanark was a little challenging to get to. When I come home I usually see us at Motherwell, Hamilton, falkirk, killie, livi, hearts, hibs etc., been a few times to parkhead and was there when Eric black scored his hat trick, and saw us win a few times at ibrox. Very jealous of you all who get to see us in the flesh regularly, never expected to live here and be a ‘foreign’ fan! Amazing the optimism now with a cup win, keen to see if jimmy can move us forward. the Aussie winger is intriguing, very excited to see us pick up a 9 and 10. can’t wait for signings and the new season!5 points

Nisbet or miovski and you choose nisbet. Apparently Ferguson is home sick and weve been offered him on a free. I say no, let’s get Funso Ojo back.5 points

Haven’t posted about Saturday until now as I don’t think I could get my head around it. An incredible day with an incredible performance by the entire team. And a tactical masterclass from Jimmy. It was clear from the start that the plan was to sit in and deny them space in the final third and other than one lucky break it worked a treat. The subs were spot on and totally changed the flow of the game, to the extent where we created the better chances in extra time. The composure of the boys on the penalties was first class and what can you say about Mitov? Absolutely brilliant gesture from him at the end of the lap of honour, giving his gloves to a young lad who had a flag with Mitov’s name on it on show all afternoon. A hero amongst heroes. I was just about to turn 10 in 1990 and Saturday was my 10yo’s first cup final, which really did make the day even more special. I’ve warned her she might be approaching middle age by the next time we win one but let’s hope not!5 points

Way off topic lads but before thread hopefully goes back to it purpose of laughing at the Gorgie Huns I would say only reason we need Scottish players is the rules to play in Europe. Outside that as long as a player is good enough then it doesn’t matter where they come from and to claim you need a core of Scottish players to succeed is plainly wrong.5 points

Hilarious. Trump really is thick as shite. Everyone in the galaxy could see that coming before they even met. What an embarrassment of a nation (as most nations are). Two of life's absolute losers involved in a playground slagging match. Who'd have thought that volume of money (handily accrued from daddy) wasn't a good barometer for wisdom? Or a metric of anything really, other than the game of money. What a pair of charlatan cunts.4 points

The recruitment team's job is to find the next Miovski, not bring the old one back. No easy task of course but that's the way it is and, I'd argue, should be.4 points

Fair play to the BBC that was a quality listen that not even Paddy Bonner could ruin (all joking aside in fairness I heard him saying today was all about Aberdeen) Like Rico, haven't commented too much on Saturday's events and agree absolutely no failures in our team, they all played their part. In our stands the support were amazing and never stopped the entire 120+ minutes of play. I as most of you will be aware have been fortunate to witness all bar one of our eight Scottish Cup victories and I can assure you there has never been one quite like that. Special for me after all these years to have my 30 year old son by my side, both of us like so many others in a flood of tears. Lastly on a personal note I got married thirteen days after the 1990 and I had said to the wife, that if we lost on Saturday her time was up and she would be getting divorce papers served as she was patently a jinx Happy to say, thirty five years of hurt gone and marriage saved4 points

I was at the game. Seat throwing I was in the fair play lower and wasn't far from where Mackenzie got hit. He was in a bad way, was down for a long time. Keskinen also got hit by the same seat but Mackenzie took the full brunt of it. He was wheeled past us. Was a lot of blood and I wouldn't be surprised if one of our fans has just put one of our own players out of the cup final. As soon as fans saw how bad it there were a lot of anger towards those in the upper deck above us. You could hear the seats getting broken above us, and had the first one not hit Mackenzie, I reckon a lot more were about to be thrown, and only his injury stopped folk. In the first half where was a lot of drinks getting thrown down on fans in the lower deck too. What that was about I don't know, but we have an element of bloody idiots in our support. We can expect the tickets for this fixture to rise significantly next season (was £28 today) because they'll probably have to make it a category A fixture now, and put on more police and stewards, and it'll be us paying for it.4 points

DU fans being on the pitch doesn't excuse our fans from ripping out a seat and throwing it onto the pitch. Had it hit a DU fan it would have been just as reprehensible and utterly stupid.4 points

Holy fuck You seriously couldn't make it up Always the victim https://thecsa.co.uk/scandalous-decision-on-ticket-split-i-have-written-to-ian-maxwell-this-morning/ Scandalous decision on ticket split. I have written to Ian Maxwell this morning. I said earlier that I thought Aberdeen would demand a 50/50 ticket split for the upcoming Scottish Cup Final. I thought that common sense may prevail and Aberdeen would have received around 15,000 tickets, which would have been at least a couple of thousand more than they took to the semi-final. I was quite angry when I heard the SFA decision yesterday, but I suppose not really surprised, Mr Maxwell has been no friend to Celtic during his time, even I think Celtic supported him to get the job. I have written to him this morning; the letter is below. Mr Maxwell, Chief Executive, Scottish Football Association. I think the decision taken by the SFA with regard to the ticket split for this year’s Scottish Cup Final was a scandalous decision, and one that is a slap in the face to the supporters of Celtic Football Club, who have been a cash cow for the SFA and Hampden Park for many years. Since the 2017 season, Celtic will have played in fourteen finals, seven Scottish Cup, and seven League Cup, so counting semi-finals twenty eight appearance in total. In this year’s Scottish Cup Semi-Final Celtic sold in excess of 37,000 tickets, Hearts reported sales of 20,000, Aberdeen 13,000 (at most), and St Johnstone somewhere around 3,000, so Celtic sold more than the other three teams put together, and received 25% of the profit. Just imagine Mr Maxwell if St Johnstone had managed to beat Celtic in the semi-final to play Aberdeen in the final, you wouldn’t have been able to give away more than 30,000 tickets. Now in the final every Aberdeen supporter who attended the semi-final should be guaranteed a ticket, while around half of the Celtic Supporters who attended the semi-final will be denied the opportunity to get a ticket, is that a fair solution to the problem that is Hampden Park, you could have played the Final at Murrayfield, Celtic would still have sold at least 40,000, Aberdeen would probably be around 15,000. Dave Cormack claimed if the semi-final had been at Peterhead they would have sold their 20,000, well let me tell Mr Cormack this, we visit Aberdeen on Wednesday night of May 14th, there will not be 20,000 Aberdeen fans in attendance that night, although he’ll probably pull the stroke of guaranteeing all in attendance a Cup Final Ticket. Finally, Mr Maxwell your tenure as head of the SFA has been underwhelming to say the least, imagine if the SFA was run as well as Celtic FC, maybe you wouldn’t need to milk the hand that feeds you so regularly. I also wonder if your favourite team that play in Govan had not got put out of the Cup by Queens Park, and were contesting the final, would Aberdeen be receiving 20,000 tickets? I very much doubt it. I won’t be holding my breath, or wasting my valuable time waiting on a reply from you. Regards, Joe O’Rourke, General Secretary, Celtic Supporters Association.4 points
-
Technically, my 100% record of always being right is still intact as we didn't sell 21,000, but I shouldn't have doubted our support, and I apologise to the 1,200 fans who could have missed out on a ticket if the board had done what they often do and read my posts before making important decisions.4 points

wouldn't worry too much, they'll probably just make you write out an article about James Forrest one thousand times.4 points

For me it’s the other way round. I find that if Morris is up against a pacy full back he can’t easily get the better of at the first time of trying, he’ll retreat into his shell and not bother trying unless he gets a head start. Keskinen never seems to let failure bother him. If it doesn’t work first time, he’ll keep going at it. End product isn’t always there, but he’s still usually the player on the pitch most likely to produce something from nothing. If he can find consistency in his output, he’ll be a multi-million pound player.4 points

Fucking, fuck sake, that is tragic. @Panda do the BBC do individual stats for players on fouls committed? I'd be interested to know how many Devlin made. Obviously, we'd have to add one for the foul he committed on Knoester that Knoester got booked for. That's embarrassing from Hearts though. It was a late challenge, with force, which is open to interpretation - it was a careless challenge to make on a booking. You can't be releasing a statement based on a mildly dubious yellow, you've got to be saving those for the big ones. Fucking bitterness. Pathetic. Even if you don't agree with the yellow, necessarily, there's not a person who can't say that they couldn't see why the ref might choose to award it. It's pathetic shite like this that got us the tedious fucking crap that is VAR (yes, I did hesitate before celebrating Dabbagh's winner. Yes, I did sit through that fucking nonsense after our first goal, utterly clueless as to why a corner could be offside). How long before second yellows are drawn into its fucking awful remit? Just fuck off, you Jambo cunts.4 points

I don’t accept that. I think perspective is a factor- a back up keeper, a new right back who hasn’t played there before for us, a new defender who has been here maybe a month and joins a team in total turmoil, a central defender who has been here days and severely lacks match fitness, a left back we don’t know what the fuck is going on, a young right mid very low in confidence whose only been here a few months, a center mid badly needing a long break/summer, another center mid finally being given a regular starting role, a new left mid we have no clue if he’s any good, a number 10 who has just returned from a long term injury, and a 9 with zero confidence and who knows his replacement has just been signed. A team who hasn’t won a league game since early November, a team who hasn’t scored in numerous games, and who is hemorrhaging goals. We won 3-0. zero negatives if you ask me, many positives from today but certainly not perfect. We’re a squad who needed completely overhauled and it’s happening mid season, we’re not far off third in the league, and in the QFs of the cup. Not a bad season all things considered.4 points
