Just back. Decent game, tireless performance and should have got something from it. Some sitters missed and a weak bit of defending. We pressed really high though and matched them all over the park. Going man for man was high risk but good to see. Their goal came from Devlin being high up on his man and tanking back in to cover for Milne who needs to be a bit better with his positioning. Earlier in the season, we'd have had the two defenders deep and probably dealt with it, but we'd have been passing it sideways and allowing them 80 yards of space all over the park. It's a worthwhile trade-off. Thought Aouchiche worked his arse off in there tonight (might have solved our midfield issue?), Armstrong outstanding for an hour and Lobban played like a seasoned pro. Was happy enough with the subs, I think Sunday has to be the priority. Yengi wasn't terrible, Milanovic was. Karlsson ineffective but generally worked hard. Mitov obviously pissed off with the disgusting besmirchment of his abilities on here recently and was top class - anyone questioning him should be flogged. Lazetic should be scoring tonight and has to be disappointed. Nisbet looked possessed when he came on. By a man with extremely heavy feet. His first five passes were hit at quadruple speed. You could see he really wanted to get involved, but everyone else was out on their arse (or Yengi or Milanovic).4 points

Andy Considine is a proper hero. A fan who grew up to play over 400 games for the club, even winning a trophy. And topping it all off with a Scotland debut at Hampden, at the age of 33, helping the team to a clean sheet in a meaningful game. Seems to be a genuinely good guy and a hugely loyal servant who played wherever his manager asked him to. He's basically the manifestation of the dreams of every kid who grew up wanting to play for the Dons.3 points

Considine is a proper AFC legend. Of course he had shit games, but he was immense in plenty others and he played enough. We also had some real shite in our back four for a lot of his time. I reckon he would have done a great job at any other team in Scotland including either of the the bigot brothers. He was never a left back, but in most games he played at left back he did a sterling job and was only usually found wanting when up against serious pace, but he was fine for the most part in the league. I get we all have differing opinions, but we really never signed much better defenders than Andy Considine during his time with us.3 points
-
Nah, he was just trying a bit too hard in that deeper role, getting a bit excited. If he puts in that work rate and desire for the rest of the season he'll come good. I think we could be about to see another of his purple patches in the next couple of months.3 points

Bring back the original 3, to be generous make the European cup for top 2. Make football interesting again! to me it’s been 6 European friendlies, obviously want us to do well but no great appeal. If anything I’d prefer we used the squad and kept key players fresh for the league, obviously an ass backwards approach.3 points

I still find it hard to believe, that despite spending a fortune on employing the folk sitting at the top table, at the AGM, that the prick Stewart Milne, still hangs around our club like a bad smell.3 points

Up next is a bunch of Alsacians They come from a frog eating nation Theyll say 'zut alors' When we knock in number 4 As we rise once again to the occasion3 points

Totally agree re Armstrong. The frequency with which he gets the ball in tight spaces and not only retains it, but finds a way to play a progressive pass is something to see. Not to say that he’s been perfect in every match, but he’s a Rolls Royce of a player.3 points

On the basis that we've not lost a league game since I started doing match threads on here, I'm carrying on. The Dons host Kilmarnock on Sunday at Pittodrie. The high octane football action starts at 3 pm. I fancy us to win 2-0.2 points

My very favourite player of all time. When he played the masters last year I genuinely welled up a bit seeing him score for the dons one last time.2 points

My reply take two. For me, this Stadium is supposedly going to bring a prospective economic gold rush to the City. If it is that great a thing for the City, then why don't the great and the good come together and pay for it. I'm totally aware it won't make money, hence my concern about the Council paying for it. I get that a City or a Town needs good infrastructure to attract and retain businesses, but for me anyway, Aberdeen Football Club Ltd, need this stadium much, much more than our City does. A Hospital, a School and Roads are all good examples of where public money should be spent to bring growth to an area, but not quite sure a fitba stadium fits into to this. We have had Woody stumping up a large amount for a hospital car park. We had the Donalds put £15 million into AFC to wipe out our debt, that was nothing to do with them. I am quite sure that between all the real monied folk in this City, we can surely come up with a way of financing this Stadium, which would remain an Asset for the club for the next 100 years or so. Even get the fans involved in some way. I am sure a few would like to be part of something like this. We were told 15 years ago, by the very same great and the good of this City, that Union Terrace Gardens would have to be concreted over, to keep the City economically viable, or some other mealy mouthed pish. It didn't happen and what the Council did with it has just won an architectural award for it. It is a jewel in our City Centre and I hope that this new foodie place, where the New Market was, brings a much needed boost to Union Street, along with the other improvements being done. I want to see our City succeed, I want to see more positive changes like Union Terrace Gardens as opposed to the not so good Marischal Square, that was an opportunity lost for the City. Could have made a lovely Civic Square type of area with the old Town House complementing Marischal College. I would have knocked down the St Nicholas Centre too if given a chance. I'm certainly not averse to change. When they wheel out people like Martin Gilbert, just like they did with the UTG debacle from years back, it just stinks of the rich folk looking their noses down at the poor relations. I not the most articulated in getting my point of view across, but the whole thing just stinks and our local press seem to be agenda driven, just like they were with both UTG and Marischal Square and of course Trumps golf course in Balmedie. That was a new low amongst the many lows our esteemed Dundonian press.2 points

His big fantasy is/was for rugby matches , relatively little fan interest ? , & surely they wouldn't be playing internationals here anyway , not to mention the proportions of the stadium would doubtless induce bad seating position behind goals. funny he has the brass to mention kicking the can down the road , as that's what him & his phony predecessor have been doing for the last few decades, after Milne's very first gamble of some other mug paying for it backfired2 points

Born on this day 55 years ago, Eoin Jess. Happy Birthday loon. One of the very, very best in my opinion and was a privilege to watch him break through.2 points

Andrew Consi Considine - bloody love the guy, second only to Brian Irvine for me in terms of being heartbroken when they left the club. As weetoonred said - he was us. Us on the pitch. When Aberdonians /local loons at the club were rarer than hens teeth and we’d mostly a revolving door of lower league English shite (and managers) he felt like the only connection I had to the club at times. He was my lode star.2 points
-
Aberdeen’s right-back; made the position his own IMO. Almost forget he’s only played a handful of senior games. He’s slotted in so well he’s almost been taken for granted. He’ll need a break at some point but kudos to the loon. And to Jimmy for given him a run.2 points

The main story on the Press and Journal site. Final offer to the Council being made today and full of the sort of shyte you would expect from a man who has been brainwashed with the American way. Will he get Trump involved if the council don't back his vision? He is going to go into full meltdown mode if he doesn't get his way. A new Stadium at the beach, really isn't going to help our economy much as it enters a period of rapid decline. The type of jobs they would look to create un the development, would be low waged, unskilled retail/hospitality work. It's a bit like the shyte about how much jobs the golf course at Balmedie would create and they never materialised either. Yes we need a new stadium and I am fairly sure the Council want it too, but the whole politicising of it leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. These talks should have happened about 20 years ago, when the Council were likely to have started looking at the initial beach development plans. They would have likely been able to get access the funding that very rich Dave Cormack and his Billionaire co owners would like access too. As despite it bringing jobs and prosperity to Aberdeen, they aren't quite able to justify putting their own money into this.2 points

Thought we played well up against a very good team but as has been said above we just didn’t look like scoring. Thought subs were made in wrong order and Shinnie and Nisbet should have been on first. Lost momentum when Yengi and Milanovic came on. Mitov made some brilliant stops. Really impressed with Barca for Strasbourg when he came on. Convinced that his Grandad visited Argentina in 78.2 points

I'll just go back to Aberdeen Mad if we lose. I really enjoy reading Red_John's opinions.2 points

Why? Why do we need those UEFA cunts anyway? Just dee our own tournament. You get in touch with the lads at Real Madrid, and I'll speak to the Copenhagen boys and we'll get something up and running by the start of next year. Get the Russians back in for the away trip jeopardy.2 points

I'm fairly sure we haven't lost a game when I've started the match thread on here. So far.2 points

Dave C winna be happy when he reads it. I'm sure he reads the AFC forums. Agree with you. If going back to the old way, can we play everything on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and cut back on the Sunday games. A big bugbear of mine.2 points

Antoine Kombouare says he would "jump at the chance" to manage Aberdeen. He must be well into his eighties now.2 points

Strasbourg is the home of asparagus Which is soft, white and bland - rather like us But wait, that’s not true We’ve scored 6 in 2 We’re bound to win ceteris paribus2 points

Again, what’s with the public asset bashing? He needs to stop denigrating public amenities, just because you don’t have to pay to use it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t add value to a city, that’s just conservative churchy bullshit. The two things can and need to coexist for anywhere to be successful.2 points

It may surprise you after our chat on the St Mirren thread but overall I agree with this, the technology isn't there yet and especially for leagues that are having to go down the back of the couch for shrapnel to just be able to afford the most basic system. That's not to say I don't think they help themselves with the way they operate it but I don't think VAR can ever be a 'good' thing until technology gets to a stage where the referee is literally an AI able to make 100% accurate decisions in milli-seconds. Whether not having a human refereeing team on the pitch at all is desireable however is another debate2 points

Old warrior dozes off, misses AGM. A boardroom coup to seize power on behalf of the Sooth Stand Socialist Collective will therefore be delayed for another 12 months and, concomitantly, the timescale of the intended free matchday issue of the People’s Skirlie, the unilateral ban on VAR within a hunner km of Pittodrie, and the installation of a mass shower system over the away support section - fed by the Pittodrie urinals - will be affected negatively. Our mission, however, will not be denied, diluted, or thwarted. No faith have we in prince or peer.2 points

Do we need a replacement for Clarkson? Thelin doesn't want to play in a way that suits him, so it would be very frustrating (and unsurprising) if we started doing so after he goes. We need a box to box midfielder. Physical and physically fit. The guy Just isn't as good as Clarkson either.2 points

Ah wis thinkin, maybe if VAR and the ref canna mak a decision within 60 seconds, then it could be decided by haein the captain o' each team play 'rock, paper, scissors ... best oot o' three. Would at least be entertainin'. ..... But then Ah thought, this would in itself need tae be refereed ... an' nae doot there would be calls for VAR tae check that said captains were nae cheatin' ..... takin' 4 minutes tae confirm or overturn the rock, paper, scissors result2 points

Shinnie deserves a place in Aberdeen club history. A trophy winning proud Aberdeen for the jersey guy. Love the way he plays and delighted when he played for Scotland, more than deserved. Gutted when he left and delighted when he came back. At the same time, he’s on the decline and more and more people are holding him in less regard. I did criticize him last week, think he struggles at times now, but he will always be legendary shinnie. funny, I never rated considine and didn’t care for him much at all, but so many/the majority treat him with legendary status.2 points
