Cup Quarter Final - 9th March 12:45

DONS IN MONEY AS TIE GOES LIVE ON TV

08:50 - 08 February 2008

Aberdeen have received an additional financial windfall from the Scottish Cup as their quarter-final against Celtic will be shown live on TV.

Satellite broadcaster Sky has chosen the Dons' game against Celtic as its tie of the round and will show the game on Sunday, March 9. The game will kick-off at 12.45pm. The switch for television purposes means both clubs receive £82,500 from the television company.

News of the additional money will soften the blow of Barry Nicholson's absence when the SPL champions visit Pittodrie next month as the midfielder will be suspended.

Nicholson was booked in the fourth-round tie at Falkirk and received a second yellow card in Saturday's 1-0 win against Hamilton to rule himself out of manager Jimmy Calderwood's plans for the visit of Gordon Strachan's side. There was some good news for the Dons on the suspension front, however, as forward Lee Miller will be available for Sunday's SPL match against the champions at Pittodrie.

Miller was sent off in Tuesday's League Cup defeat by Dundee United but he will serve his suspension in his first game of the tournament next season.

I'm more interested all round if the team bothers to show up.

Do you even go to games Mike?

Edit- Bastard Funster beat me to it.

I would go to games if I could spare 90 minutes away from my desk without fear of the company going under.

I can't go now, I promised I'd take my niece to Mintlaw to see the penguins.  I'll have to make do with watching it on the 50" plasma.  :(

You probably can see Penguins in Mintlaw. If one had any inclination to go there.

They're in the same aisle as the juice.

I'd like to see us play this money up front rather than midfield. The coins in the penalty box on Tuesday got closer to their keeper than Miller managed for 90 minutes.

Very likely.

Ale on the other hand is/was sold By Bon Accord off the back of a van, thus zonder aisle.

There you go.

Making words up again.
