The electorate failed to grasp that the Tories helped kill it whilst in power.

Going to be an interesting few weeks/months ahead anyway.

They had 14 years in power to save it but they’ll do it now, promise.

I can fully understand how the electorate of Aberdeen South can feel a bit short changed by their options but fucking hell, imagine voting for them. Any thicker and they would set

John Crace on good form today with his opening paragraph, in response to Liz Truss revealing Labours "secret plan" - get Burnham back to Westminster to challenge Starmer.

"It’s one of the great philosophical questions of our age. Or any age, for that matter. If Liz Truss didn’t exist, would it be possible to imagine her? Could anyone conceive that someone so brain-meltingly dim could have once been our prime minister"

She is a qualified accountant too, the same Institute as myself.

We must be the poundland version of Accountants.

Just saw that the turnout at Aberdeen South was only 38%.

A shocking figure, but nobody seems to care that 62% of the electorate couldn't give a fuck.

Is it that they don't care, or that they don't see a tangible link between voting and outcome?

I’m puzzled at the SNP failing to get its vote out (it’s down by about 46%, it seems). Might it be because the unbearable screaming skull Jute cunt* was more popular than my former MP 2019-2024 - who I voted for to keep the Tories out in 2019? Very very strange, especially with a hugely-partisan World Cup in progress. I suspect the middle classes of Mannofield, Milltimber etc turned out.

*I’d be interested to find out if the big operation he had on his leg a while back also included the insertion of an extra vertebra to enable him to sook his ain cock. “I’m proud to say that I once canvassed in Aberdeen wearing a Dundee United shirt”. You’d have had your knackers kicked up your arse had you appeared on my doorstep, matey.
Disclaimer: apart from the foregoing, I hold no strong views on the matter. E&OE etc

When I say care, I mean the politicians and the press. I have no issue with people not voting.

I'd be embarrassed to win a seat where the over whelming majority couldn't be arsed. Possibly why I would never make a politician.

Voter turnout has been dropping for years, and I know a lot of folk don't bother with by-elections, but it's just a bugbear of mine.

I just noticed at the Arbroath by-election yesterday, turnout was only 31%. The fourth ever lowest voter turnout.

Makerfield was just shy of 60%, which was the same as the turnout for the whole of the 20245 UK election.

Good to see that missing 1973 episode of Doctor Who was finally found.

Assumed it was a wizard of Oz panto. Not sure that Burnham will be revealing anything from behind the curtain when he becomes PM.
