Crazy American Politics

Story #1

http://www.statepress.com/2012/03/12/senate-judiciary-committee-endorses-controversial-contraceptive-bill/

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 6-2 Monday to endorse a controversial bill that would allow Arizona employers the right to deny health insurance coverage for contraceptives based on religious objections.

Arizona House Bill 2625, authored by Majority Whip Debbie Lesko, R-Glendale, would permit employers to ask their employees for proof of medical prescription if they seek contraceptives for non-reproductive purposes, such as hormone control or acne treatment.

“I believe we live in America. We don’t live in the  Soviet Union,” Lesko said. “So, government should not be telling the organizations or mom and pop employers to do something against their moral beliefs.”

Lesko said this bill responds to a contraceptive mandate in the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law March 2010.

“My whole legislation is about our First Amendment rights and freedom of religion,” Lesko said. “All my bill does is that an employer can opt out of the mandate if they have any religious objections.”

Story#2

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/rick-santorum-wants-ban-hardcore-pornography-222833811.html

Rick Santorum wants to put an end to the distribution of pornography in the United States.

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," Santorum's official website reads. "Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

The former Pennsylvania senator states that, "as a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal obscene pornography and its profound effects on our culture."

Santorum criticized the Obama administration for turning "a blind eye ... to the scourge of pornography" and for refusing to enforce obscenity laws.

"If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so," Santorum writes. "While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum Administration."

Hilarious. Trump really is thick as shite. Everyone in the galaxy could see that coming before they even met. What an embarrassment of a nation (as most nations are). Two of life's absolute losers inv

  • We just mainly hear about their gestapo shooting Americans in the face, the child sex trafficking and fascist stuff but that’s good news about property taxes

I’ll take it a step further, I don’t agree with your fox assessment. I bounce around the channels to try to get balance and perspective, and have done so for the last couple of days in particular to get election perspective. Fox gives some shit and some honesty, just like the majority of the networks, just with a republican perspective. It’s not zero fact like you say. Fox has their idiots like all the other channels, I’d compare Tucker Carlson to the pathetic Don Lemon in a heartbeat for example, both extreme to their side.

Their election coverage has always been fairly decent, this time no different. It's their general news coverage in the four years that aren't election time that is the issue. Climate change denying paid for con artists. Murdoch's given the message now though, Trump no longer has his support, watch on as all his titles stab him in the back and pretend they never supported him in the first place. Biden isn't a threat to them anyway, a centre right conservative in the mould of Osbourne or May in this country.

All channel, even Fox, are declaring victory for Biden. Trumps melt down is going to be glorious.

It better be this at a minimum.

He’s going to go down fighting. It will be an embarrassing mess.

Wouldn't expect anything less from the baby president.  What does make me laugh though, is Biden saying that the US political system is the envy of the world. What world is this? It's fucking awful.

Are you sure he’s not boasting corruption at its finest?

I have to say I think the whole debacle of this election was worth it for the big press conference by Rudy Guiliani at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping company, instead of the Four Seasons Hotel, in between a porn book store & a crematorium. The creators of Veep couldn’t have made something funnier. Whoever took the booking is a legend.

Very apt ending for that regime, in the gutter where they all came from. The baby president is absolutely losing it.

It's impressive gaslighting from the charlatan like. The republican party concerned about election fraud? Fantastic. I'm only 20 minutes in, but none of what he has described so far is electoral fraud. He has great showmanship, the sort that would convince a public jury, but that's not how these things work with electoral fraud. He knows it to, so he must have some other angle. Perhaps it's just sowing doubt in the public to try and get some leverage before January comes and goes and Trump is in the courts. Who knows. The man's an utter sleaze like.

Never trust a man who's leaking. I mean, he has many other reasons not to be trusted, but that was disgusting.

Make of this what you will

Pennsylvania hearings with witnesses for anyone interested

The title of this thread has never seemed so apt. Looking pretty tasty over in Washington just now!!

Absolute scenes, it's hilarious, but we shouldn't be surprised that some yanks are so fucking thick.

Absolute clusterfuck this and potentialy a proper test of the constitution so many Americans cling onto.
Supposeldy the DC cops have asked for the National Guard to assist but this request has been denied by Trump's stooge.

Interested to see if the Delta Force end up being called in, or indeed if they actually 'can be' if the sitting president doesn't order it

Looks like national guard and state troopers have got the nod now. What an embarrassment. Surely Trump will finally be isolated from some of his Republican sympathisers after this.

Not the ones stationed in DC
The Virginian ones are being sent in on the orders of the Democratic Governor.

You couldn't make it up. There were police actually posing for selfies with the terrorists once the were inside ?‍♂️
