ABERDEEN have placed a £5million price tag on teenage prodigy Fraser Fyvie after he refused to sign a new deal.

 

The Dons were desperate to hold on to the midfielder and rejected two bids from Championship clubs during the transfer window.

 

But Fyvie, a product of their youth programme, resisted all offers to extend his contract at the end of this year because he wants to develop his career in England.

 

The Pittodrie club have no option but to sell the Scotland youth captain or risk losing him for minimum compensation when his deal expires.

 

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown said: “Fraser hasn’t signed the new contract that was offered to him but he is still our player.

 

“If anyone wants to take him away before his deal ends in December they would need to make us a substantial offer.

 

“If someone came in and made a bid of £5m then we would have to consider that but if we don’t get any sensible offers we will hold on to Fraser into next season. We are still entitled to compensation if he leaves when he becomes a free agent.”

He's been disappointing since coming back from his injury, which is also about the length of time Aluko spent phoning it in before leaving. Not wanting to be here probably has more to do with it than ability.

 

In a way though, I think this is all related to the point about there being hee haw coaching in place at Aberdeen. Young players develop up to a point but then there's no one capable of helping them get to the next level. Not surprised at that age people want to go somewhere they can better themselves. Even a few League 1 teams have better coaches/facilities than we do.

The way I saw it we were utter shite in the first half. In the second half he came on and we immediately looked a lot better. Fyvie was one of the few that didn't look like a rabbit caught in headlights whenever he had the ball. Granted he wasn't ultimately able to influence the result.
