Aberdeen Football Club plc today announced the trading results for the year ended 30 June 2011.

 

Pittodrie Chief Executive Duncan Fraser stated "Events over the last twelve months have reinforced the view that the economic conditions facing Scottish football remain extremely challenging. While the new television deal will offer a degree of stability, it is imperative that a clear strategic vision for the professional game in Scotland is delivered in the coming period.

 

"The overall turnover rose from £7.053 million to £7.462 million mainly as a result of the two cup semi final appearances.

 

"The overall wages to turnover figure after adjustments came in at the industry recommended level of 60 per cent with the bonus structure aligned to performance. The Club has further supported the first team this season at a time when others are cutting back in a bid to bring about the consistency in performance that is required as we enter a period of major change at the Club. We continue however to fully support our youth development operations as this area is pivotal to the Club's future".

 

Chairman Stewart Milne commented. "After a difficult start to the season we are beginning to see more consistency in the first team performances which is critical at this moment in time although we do, of course, need to start climbing the table".

 

Commenting on the move to Loirston Loch Stewart Milne added. "Work continues to bridge the financing gap but progress has been made and Barr Construction has been named as the preferred contractor. We remain committed to do all we can to relocate in time for the start of the 2013/14 season".

 

With regards to the Board changes Stewart Milne stated "The Board all agreed with the challenges facing us it was necessary to strengthen the Board and in Colin Welsh and Ian Jack we have two extremely experienced individuals who will bring significant value to the Club. This enabled us to change our strategic approach with a quartet of sub groups headed by Colin, Ian, Hugh Little and myself to drive forward on all fronts. Duncan Fraser in his role as Chief Executive will sit on all four groups to ensure proper co-ordination and all Board members will serve on at least one group with senior staff including Craig Brown involved. Other expertise will be co-opted on as appropriate."

sadly brown sounds like a yes man.

 

if the budget wasn't reduced we would have been replacing what we lost in playing staff. We didn't, so the club cannot call these players 'extensions' to the budget.

 

I'm sorry but there's no way you can say this without knowing the wages of the outgoing/incoming players.  It's very much possible (I'd go as far as to say likely) that the same level of expenditure has been spent on fewer players on slightly higher wages.

we've spent years not replacing the half decent players who've left. If our wages ARE level with when our team was decent then someone needs shot for allowing that to happen!

Very disappointing that the coffins didn't make North Tonight. Are the press scared of Milne like the shareholders are?

 

We should trust him. He's a Dons fan. He has our football club in his heart. He never lied to us.

 

Those allegations under Freedom of Information must be lies or a gross mistake.
