Haven't yet seen or heard of the "inspired" camp either, more likely reasonably happy with what seems a competent player signing.

I'm just offering opinion based on the last 200 or so times he had the shirt on.

it's hardly a character assasination, it's an appraisal based on past performance.

There wasn't much fuss when he left an average side a few years ago, so I'm not massively excited by him coming back.

 

It's got no bearing on whether I'll be backing him when he plays. That should go without saying.

 

Happy with this.

 

He did seem a touch 'tackle-shy' in his first stint with us, but often put defenders on the back foot, something we didn't do much of last season.

Regardless of the opinions of others I'm looking at this signing in a positive light, after all he's better that what we had last season.

While I was in the 'Clark is a pussy' camp in the tail end of his first stint we gotta give him a chance

Given most people thought he was a competent player at best during his first stint it will be interesting to see how much he has improved in his time away or (more likely) how much afc and the spl have slipped in standard while he has been in England.

Yeah. pretty good signing considering. He would have been valuable last season that's for sure. a two footed player that can play in numerous positions. Welcome back son :-)

Didn't really rate him at all when he was first here. His 'versatility' was more 'jack of all trades, master of none'. Didn't excel in any position but didn't do badly in either one. Not inspired or excited by him re-signing.

Left an average side? Probably.

 

An average side would be a fucking godsend right now though and an average side was the best we've had for some time. Average, competent players whilst not "inspiring" might not be that bad a thing. 

Reasonably happy with this.

Clark was an easy target for the boo boys when here last time around, and no doubt already is this time around.

My opinion on Clark, was that he was under valued, and that we probably didn't realise just how much until he was gone.

Doubt having played over a hundred games south of the border in the last three years has made him any worse a player.

One of those players that maybe doesn't seem to do that much - but when he's not there, he's actually quite badly missed.

 

Same happened with Guntveit. I know plenty of people who slagged him off for apparently doing nothing in his time at Aberdeen. But when he was out with that achilles injury for months, there was a definite lack of bite and precision in the middle of the park, and the service our strikers (ie Winters, Zerouali, etc) received definitely dropped in quality when Cato was out.

 

Welcome back Chris. I had a look on a Plymouth fans site about a year after Clark had left us, and they seemed to like him. Didn't rant and rave about him, but most definitely didn't slate him. Suppose its the same as us really. Hopefully he's matured a bit and his balls have grown a bit now.

Chris Clark hopes his return to Aberdeen can help the club enjoy the kind of success they had during his first spell at Pittodrie.

 

Clark has re-joined his hometown club on a free transfer from Plymouth.

 

"I've supported the club since a young age and it was always the first result I looked for," Clark told BBC Scotland.

 

"It was difficult to see the team in the lower half (of the table) and it'll be nice to be in the challenge of pushing for that top six."

 

When the midfielder, now 30, left the Dons they were in Europe and regularly finishing in the Scottish Premier League's top six.

 

However, Aberdeen have finished the last two seasons in the bottom half of the division.

"It's good to be back," said Clark. "A lot's changed since I was last here so I'm looking forward to working with the new management and new players.

 

"You can't always be at that level but that's something that everyone's got to aim for and it's a challenge for everyone to get back to that level.

 

"Craig Brown and Archie Knox have got a wealth of experience and when they came in, they gave the place a huge lift.

 

"There's a lot of good young players in this squad, I've heard a lot about them. It's going to be really good working with everyone."

 

During his time with Plymouth, the Pilgrims went into administration and Clark was struck at how the local community rallied down to support the club.

 

Knox and Brown have brought Clark back to Aberdeen "I wish them all the best," he said. "It was a mixed time, you learn so much from it and you can only come out of those situations stronger.

 

"It was hard for everyone and it's not just the players or the coaching staff, it goes right down to everyone working in offices, it goes down to people that work on matchdays.

 

"The team were struggling as well but the support that the fans showed was really touching; it really humbled the players. It was fantastic, they clapped us off win, lose or draw.

 

"They realised what everyone was going through at the club and they actually took upon themselves to do certain things to raise money for the club."

 

Clark turned down the chance to join Kilmarnock before accepting Aberdeen's offer and is hoping his experience can help the club improve upon last season's ninth-place finish.

 

"It was a decision for myself and for the family," added Clark. "It's the right decision at the end of the day.

 

"I was out of contract, I had had a couple of offers. It was really pleasing when Aberdeen made the call. I was delighted to sign again.

 

"It's well publicised how the Scottish game has fallen over the years. Attendances are down, a lot of teams' budgets are low. Everyone seems to be in the same boat.

 

"It's just important that we go about things the right way and just enjoy our football and make sure that Aberdeen are one of the stronger sides again."
