I can't say I've seen him play, but I certainly think that this is something that the club should be looking at given that:

 

a) Langfield is still unable to train

b) Langfield is a bit dodgy.

 

Hopefully he'll be a step up from what we have had in recent times.

Lets see what Bandy can do with him in training. If he can turn Preece into a half-decent keeper, who knows what he can do with a Columbian internationalist!!

The manager also revealed the club are close to signing Colombia keeper David Gonzalez on loan from Manchester City.

 

"The deal is 90% done. I don't see anything to stop the deal progressing. He is not back in the UK until the 30th but hopefully he will be back in time to join us in Germany. The arrangements are now in the hands of Duncan Fraser and Brian Marwood at Manchester City. It seems to be that all systems are go for the move.

Gonzalez joined City in January 2010 but is yet to make a first-team appearance and had a loan spell with Leeds United last season.

 

Chris Oldfield, a 20-year-old goalkeeper formerly on the books at Liverpool, is on trial with the Dons.

 

Manager Craig Brown aims to add two new shot-stoppers to his squad, with Jamie Langfield sidelined until October and Mark Howard released at the end of last season.

 

Langfield suffered a seizure last month and while he has returned to light training with his team-mates he is out of competitive action until the autumn.

 

Former Coventry City midfielder Isaac Osbourne and Spanish midfielder Andoitz Galdos Gabas are also training with Aberdeen at the moment.

He gives us an insight into life at Manchester City and reveals how much he is enjoying his time in Aberdeen.......

"Jim Leighton is good to work with, we have a really good relationship. We enjoy every training session. I was joking with him the other day because when I first met him when I arrived in Aberdeen I recognised him.

 

"Then I remembered that when I was little, I did the Panini albums for the World Cup, I got all the stickers, and I remember his picture really really well from the Scotland team in France 1998!! When I told Jim this he promised me he would sign his picture so I can put it over my bed!

 

"I am really enjoying being here. We had a look around Aberdeen when we were looking for somewhere to live. It's a lovely city, lovely weather as well! Seriously, it's great, I feel really happy to be here, to be playing regularly, it's great. I am settled in a place with my wife and daughter so it's very good. Playing week in week out is so nice after the last couple of years because playing with the reserves is not the same thing, you don't get the buzz the crowds and the pressure gives you.
