A DEAL to sell Rangers Football Club to Scots venture capitalist Craig Whyte will go though by the middle of January, according to senior sources at the club.

Whyte, 39, met with Ibrox chairman Alastair Johnston in Glasgow to discuss the purchase of Sir David Murray's shareholding in the club.

 

The proposed £33 million deal will wipe out the existing debt that has stymied Rangers in the transfer market for two years.

 

Yesterday, sources at Rangers said the deal, barring any late hitches, could be completed before Christmas but it is more likely that it will be done by the middle of January. "We can't say with 100 per cent certainty, but Whyte has the money and is very convincing. We think the deal will happen," said the source.

 

Murray has presided over Rangers for 22 years but has been keen to sell his stake for some time.

 

Hopefully the debt thing is not true as that is what is holding them back at the moment.

So the weegie media seem to think that the dog wanker is being targeted by a couple of Spanish teams.

Only reason this could be of any remote interest to us is that when the tribunal fee was finally set, there was a phrase used about Aberdeen potentially being entitled to "future economic rights by way of a sell on" if the Huns were to sell him.

Anyone got any insight into what this actually means in terms of potential readers for us ?

Thought his post match interview was pretty pathetic. Didn’t come across as a strong character, very limited vocabulary, sounds out of his depth.

I'm not on board. His failings were fairly clear. Things like "lack of bottle" are just trite pish which only work if you ignore every single time where his team's did show bottle. Beating Groningen, Rijeka, the Tims final day, Huns semi, finishing above the Huns twice etc etc all showed a degree of bottle. Or, more correctly, they proved that his pragmatic tactics would equally as likely yield results as approaches taken by other managers, that had their own stories of glorious failure. Clarke was the only manager in McInnes era with us that consistently better results against better teams and that's because he was and is a better manager. Lennon was regularly lauded at Hibs for "having a go" despite his results being no better and his wider league positions being worse.

McInnes' limitations as a manager are what we're experiencing with Robinson, albeit McInnes was far better at the pragmatic approach. In the same way that there is a good argument to suggest that Robinson's approach won't work for Aberdeen (or the expectations of Aberdeen), there is a good argument to suggest McInnes' approach won't work for the Huns (which it undeniably did for the diet Huns last season).

Hopefully he'll keep trying to get pragmatic results with a Hun team that should be streets ahead of the rest of the league (bar the Tims), as that'll certainly lead to mediocrity and his firing in short order.

My big frustration with McInnes was he was just too conservative in crunch games against the tims.. I suppose you could call that lack of bottle but it seems harsh when really it was only the best celtic team for near 20 years that he couldn't lay a glove on. Other than that I liked him 2bh. He spoke well, was tactically sound, players clearly loved him and I had some of my best times as an Aberdeen fan under his tenure. It went stale and he left under a bit of a cloud but given the shit we had been through before he took over his hisst 6 years were night and day in comparison.

@rico it's an interesting point you make re mcinnesball potentially just not being able to cut the mustard at mordor. Time will tell but, to play devil's advocate, he did inherit a hoor of a mess there. It's not looking good for him currently but I wouldn't write him off just yet.

The games you’ve mentioned were good results but not ones that required bottle, as we weren’t really going into them as favourites. The St. Johnstone semi was the biggest bottle job I’ve seen. The semis against the PJMs, Motherwell, even the final he won was a bottle job.

Most of Scotland were finishing above the Huns when he was in charge. Were Dumbarton showing bottle? 😆

You're really just demonstrating my point, sort of! I'm not arguing that McInnes had bottle, I'm arguing that bottle is a nebulous term that you can pick and choose when to ignore it or not to suit your argument. You've discounted my examples based on flimsy pretext (we finished ahead of Gerrard's Huns who won the league the following season, for clarity), because they don't fit the point you're trying to make. I could quickly do the same with your points: the St Johnstone game wasn't the biggest bottle job I've seen, much more a case of a team who turned up thinking that they were already through to the final (made worse after we scored); the Motherwell game cancelled be entirely explained by our midfield, if you care to look it up!

Again, McInnes failings as a manager are several, but summing them up with meaningless things like bottle is just lazy. I'd argue that failure to recognise McInnes' failures, his ceiling and the attributes required to move beyond the ceiling he couldn't break through is one of the reasons why we keep fucking up our managerial appointments. Thelin is the only manager since McInnes that any one of us would have jumped at as a replacement for McInnes that we would believe could take us forward. It wouldn't surprise me if members of the FMB bought into shite about bottle.

The San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has pleaded no contest to two criminal charges after being arrested at an Ohio trailer park over the weekend.

KRON4 News in San Francisco reported that York was initially arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution but that count was amended to a charge of disorderly conduct. He was also charged with possessing criminal tools.

A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but the defendant in question does accept the punishment for the alleged crimes in question. York was sentenced to a day in jail for each count to be served concurrently and was released on Monday morning. He was also fined a total of $1,150 and ordered to complete an online course. The arrest report does not specify what the criminal tools were in York’s case.

According to the New York Post, court documents say York responded to an advert on a website and “arranged to have sexual activity with [a] female in exchange for $140.” York was arrested later arrested at a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio in the early hours of Sunday morning. The East Palestine Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force were involved in the arrest. York, 46, was born and raised in Youngstown, a 30-minute drive from East Palestine and still has a home in the area.

York is the nephew of former 49ers majority owner Edward J DeBartolo Jr. York took day to day control of the 49ers in 2008 when he became the team’s CEO. After acquiring his mother’s shares, he became the team’s principal owner in 2024.

Since York took over as CEO, the 49ers have reached three Super Bowls but lost each time.

He also owns stakes in the Premier League’s Leeds United and Scotland’s Rangers through 49ers Enterprises.

I actually found it on a hun forum whilst gorging on some schadenfruede.

This was particularly succulent.

I find the apathy I feel the biggest worry.

I really had to convince myself to renew this year. Had season ticket cast majority of my 42 years but I seriously don’t enjoy anymore. We’re not behaving like the club I grew up with and I find I’ve went from angry to acceptance. 
Embarrassment after embarrassment, year after year. Season over by Halloween and in the last 2 seasons serious damage before the schools are even back.

Im just apathetic about the whole thing now. I almost expect it. Approaching the end of me being a match going fan I fear. 
Hopefully I’m alone but I fucking despise what we’ve become.
