Sale of Rangers FC 'will go ahead by mid-January'

Published Date: 05 December 2010

By Tom English

A DEAL to sell Rangers Football Club to Scots venture capitalist Craig Whyte will go though by the middle of January, according to senior sources at the club.

Whyte, 39, met with Ibrox chairman Alastair Johnston in Glasgow to discuss the purchase of Sir David Murray's shareholding in the club.

The proposed £33 million deal will wipe out the existing debt that has stymied Rangers in the transfer market for two years.

Yesterday, sources at Rangers said the deal, barring any late hitches, could be completed before Christmas but it is more likely that it will be done by the middle of January. "We can't say with 100 per cent certainty, but Whyte has the money and is very convincing. We think the deal will happen," said the source.

Murray has presided over Rangers for 22 years but has been keen to sell his stake for some time.

Hopefully the debt thing is not true as that is what is holding them back at the moment.

Saw this on SSN Sports News last night. I was shocked but more shocked at why I'm still shocked at the sheer arrogance of this mob. Since when has repaying loans been optional? I would urge Ashley to take costly legal action against Sevco.  ;D

Wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Foster, McCulloch etc are all re-signed come late July. They'll want a couple of months of them off the wage bill while there is no income.

ED just sent me a message and it appears Mols has been speaking shite in today's Hun (quelle surprise).

Can't post a link as fortunately my office blocks that shite site

This link just posted on MAD which gives coverage of todays High Court proceedings between Sevco and Sports Direct

https://twitter.com/jamesdoleman

Summary

Sports direct had a team of 5. Sevco had 1

Court action brought because of an article in the Daily Record which revealed information that was subject to a confidentiality agreement.

Sevco have never denied revealing the information claiming they don't accept the agreement

Judge grants injunction preventing King & Co from revealing or discussing commercial confiedentiality agreements at the EGM

Judge orders Sevco to pay Sports Direct's legal costs of £20,000

Good stuff!

I notice that twitter feed also mentions there's a separate case ongoing in Edinburgh, anyone know what it's about?

Ring fencing cash from season ticket sales I think. So that Ashley gets his £5M back before any ither chunt. Don't imagine this being granted unless it can be shown that the buns are likely nae to pay up.

Based upon his successes at Brentford, dare I say it, but I think this is a good appointment by the hunnery... :hammer:

So it is officially Warburton for the new team.

Can we run a week sweepstake on when Der Hun will turn on him on account of not being a Rangers Man ?

It's harsh on McCall, I thought he had done enough. This is a bit of a gamble by the Huns if you ask me. It's going to be interesting to see what kindfof player they are able to attract.

He'll get the bread-and-butter things right, but ultimately I think they're still toast.

By all accounts he's a manager who's known for using his loaf, but is he the best thing since sliced bread? In terms of Scottish football he's an outsider.

At least King has come out and said he will have plenty of dough to spend.

He'll knead it.

Hopefully he won't rise to the challenge

From BBC webshite

Rangers manager Mark Warburton is preparing a £1.5m raid on former club Brentford for midfielder Stuart Dallas.

And so it begins again...........

There's a lot you can spend the money on that you've just saved by voting against re-paying your debts.

Theyve signed a player for an undisclosed fee.

Luckily the same player was all set for a move to Birmingham until it fell through because he failed his medical.

Lol so that's who the motd Facebook thread was chatting about. Journeyman. Lol.

Twelfth club and only aged twenty four. Hardly inspiring and evidence of the supposed war chest !

Apologies for the "dirty" link, but whilst amusing myself earlier today reading about the deluded mob, I stumbled across this thread and thought I would give you the chance to have a laugh as well. Doesn't seem to enter their heads that he is under contract for a few years and a rather large transfer fee would be involved  ::)

:lolabove:  Deluded doesn't even do them justice!

Pathetically only a few of them seem to care about anything more than that he's irish/probably Catholic. Only one of them even has clocked that he would never be interested in dropping down a division or that we wouldn't sell to them.

Fucking Huns
