This signing could be the fresh lick of paint the team needs.

Roll(er) on the end of the summer when these rumours can come to an end.

I wonder if we are in Prime position to sign this lad?

I hope JC doesn't brush him off because he's not from Holland.

Must have a few real anoraks in our scouting team to know about him.

He has a well decorated football career behind him already.

'We deserve Better'

He's the kinda player that'll make me jacket in next season.

I heard he's a bit of an Aerosol.

Im overcome with emulsion at the thought of this signing. It puts a bit of a gloss on a relatively poor season.

I hope people give him a chance.  I wouldn't want him on a shoogly peg before he's even played a game.

Aye, lets nae lapel the guy as a dud just yet

sorry, that was poor - I'll get my coates

And Aberdeen journals seem to have been reading here......http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1217063?UserKey=

Aberdeen are considering a move for Crusaders captain Colin Coates.

Manager Jimmy Calderwood and assistant Jimmy Nicholl watched the 23-year-old centre back at the Irish Cup final on Saturday at Winsor Park.

Coates has been called up for the Northern Ireland squad for their friendly against Italy in Pisa next month.

Former Northern Ireland international Nicholl said: “I think probably Coates was the man of the match on Saturday, he had a good game.

“It was good to get over and see the final, and it shows Aberdeen are still keeping an interest in Irish League football.

“We signed young Sammy Stewart from Glenavon last summer and he has done well, so there is plenty of talent there.â€

His father, Matt, says he's as daft as a brush.

Let's not gloss over this guy just yet.

That was quite a silky finish.

He went out and painted the town red to celebrate

Celebrate a whitewash?

Played well the first half of the season apprently, then varnished without a trace.

Indeed, it was a bit of a roller-coaster of a season for him.

Once we sign him, we'll score from corners with easel.

I'm not sure he will be brought out until winter time.

Tommy Wright will knock seven shades out of him.

I think we're waiting a week until beginning negotiations - Colin's agent is a woman and she's got the painters in.

As a player he is meant to be really good and likes to run, but as a person off of the pitch I have heard he is really thick.

Primed and ready for action.

Some of the puns in this thread are like watching paint dry.
