Wright to be good for Aberdeen FC

ABERDEEN FC hitman Tommy Wright has decided to clean up his act in an effort to become a first-team regular.

 

Wright admits his reputation for being a bit of a hot-head hasn’t helped his bid to make it big in the SPL.

 

Wright picked up four red and 31 yellow cards while playing for Leicester City and Darlington in England.

 

He vowed not to alter his style after completing his £75,000 move to Aberdeen FC in the summer.

 

That led to referees and opponents appearing to pick on Wright during matches.

 

Tommy said: “The coaching staff warned me my style would mean walking a thin line with Scottish referees. It was also noticeable that opposing players were doing all they could to wind me up.

 

“It’s up to me to show I can handle all of that better than I might have done in the past.

 

“I have to if I want to become a regular in the Aberdeen side.

 

“I did a lot of daft things when I first came on the scene but it’s been a real learning curve for me.â€

 

Wright hopes to play some part in today’s SPL clash with Kilmarnock at Pittodrie, a match Aberdeen FC must win if they want to stay on the tails of Dundee United and Hearts in the race to finish third.

 

Wright said “We’ve kept saying over the last few weeks that if we could just win we would be up into third or fourth place.

 

“But we keep slipping up and that has to stop because we are slowly running out of games.

 

“We are fortunate the gap between us and Hearts is only four points because playing catch-up at this point of the season is not what we want to be doing.

 

“We will definitely gain ground on at least one of the two above us if we win today, so it’s crucial we make that happen.

 

“I accept I will probably have to be a little bit more patient and act as back-up to the other strikers today. “Lee Miller is banned from the game against Hamilton, in a couple of weeks, so I hope to get a bit more of a chance in that one.

 

“If I do start that game it will be up to me to make the best of the chance and give the manager a bit of a headache for the match after that.â€

 

Sone Aluko has recovered from a stomach bug and is expected to start.

 

Jamie Smith also back after five months battling against a series of injuries.

 

Andrew Considine and Gary McDonald are still out with injuries.

FFS, I admire Reekie's dedication to the best available options to hearing/seeing the Dons "live". With the way we play at times I don't think I would be getting out ma bed to hear/see the game fae New Zealand at 4am if I lived there via a tim's webcam.

 

Saying that, at weekends I'd probably still be up!

I actually agree with the above. What's the travel time from New Zealand, 24 hours?  So if he sets off fae work at 12 on Friday afternoon, immediately gets a flight, goes from the airport straight to Pittodrie, spends a couple hours at the game then heads right back to the airport, he'd be home some time Sunday evening.

 

Hang on though, no direct flights to Aberdeen....

 

Okay, so if he sets out on Friday morning, gets a flight to Gatwick, then immediately gets on a shuttle to Aberdeen he might catch the whole game. Then get a shuttle back to Gatwick, flight back to New Zealand, sleeping on the plane, he can get off the plane and head immediately to work monday morining.

 

NZ to UK both ways, call it a grand.... shuttle to Aberdeen both ways, couple hundred. Food, ticket for the journey well call another hundred quid. Say 1300 quid fort the trip at a bare minimum.

 

HAng on, I just noticed on the website that the travel time is 30 hours.

 

So he'd have to leave some time on Thursday to get to the game on Saturday.

 

Reekie, yer a fucking waster. Get yer arse on a plane and support the team.
