Coming away from the game yesterday I was pondering when I last came away from a game where I wasn't moaning about the ref.  Unfortunately I can't remember that far back so instead what have been the worst refereeing performances you have seen?

 

Two that immediately spring to mind are the first 45mins of the League Cup Semi last season where the ref was so incompetent that the entire stadium was about ready to lynch him at half time.  I'm not convinced he made one correct decision that whole half.

 

The other was a game at Motherwell a good few years back.  McGuire made a brilliant last ditch tackle, the away stand rise to applaud his effort only for the buffoon to point to the spot.  Even McFadden looked embarrassed as he stepped up to score.  Same match Mackie got booked for getting taken out in mid air and I'm certain he booked some lad twice in quick succession by mistake.

There's many things you can say about Willie Collum but I genuinely don't think he is corrupt.  I think he's incredibly incompetent at times but I've never once got the impression of an agenda from him.  All that said though it's been a while since he had a "Collum" moment in a match so it's probably overdue.

Although not against us for sheer incompetence Les Mottram takes some beating  enjoy it on youtune at own leisure

Again not involving us, but step forward John Beaton. His performance at The Hunnery today has surely taken blatant cheating to a new level.

I didn't see it but I believe it was a bit special.

 

Of course the eventual score covers things up a bit.

First half Hun keeper catch some ball out of the box.

Second half Garner guilty of an assault that in the street would have seen you jailed....... result no red card

I don't see the ref as being responsible for that one. The linesman should've flagged. Even then the keeper was very clever and whilst I was shouting at the telly, it wasn't a simple call.

Never watched it all either, but home to see last ten minutes and hear/see post match review/analysis. That was more than enough for me to form an opinion that Beaton fucked up today.
