Nae sure whether yer fishing here, but it would be due to the direction from which you are approaching the area.

 

If, for example, you draw a line between Ibrox and Love Street, and your house is situated on that line the difference would be equal to the distance between the grounds. However, if you live off that line, the difference between the grounds will gradually reduce until your reach a point where you are on a line perpendicular to and bisecting the Ibrox/LoveSt vector precisely halfway, they will be perfectly equidistant.

Well, the difference is almost a 45 degree angle so it would be fairly significant. That said, Ibrox and Love St are virtually on a west to east line, so it would suggest the opposite of the results you got.
