Building an Aberdeen-Centric Football Data App: Free to Use, Independent, Feedback Welcome

Hi,

I've been a Dons fan since the early nineties, since I was a kid, and overall I'm very pro Dave Cormack and also pro Stephen Robinson, but I understand the views of those who aren't. I'm mostly just fed up of a lot of the toxic online discussion and the cyberbullies brigading every Youtube thead, every X thread every time a result doesn't go our way. I feel it's become very hard to have a decent discussion these days based on facts. I feel it reflects badly on the club, so I'm trying to change that in my own nerdy way.

I'm currently building this https://patrickmockridge.github.io/fitba/

The idea is a single independent source of truth about the club, the league, the squad, the scouting market, in a 'Football Manager' sort of user interface that everyone can use as a source and a tool to improve conversations online. I've mostly built it as what I'd like and I think is helpful but I'd appreciate feedback on how to improve it.

I think especially with recruitment a lot of fans feel left out of the loop in terms of how decisions are made, and feel Cormack is aloof and it's hard to tell who's accountable for what. I see on X the great engagement Vitamin T gets with his scouting reports and whatnot, it's a window into that world. So this wee project, I hope, takes that trend and constructive convo further.

It's still very early. Maybe you think it's good, maybe it's shite idk, but I think something like this at least would be a good thing overall even if my take on it might not be. Also the name for it 'fitba' is just a placeholder, I'd appreciate suggestions for a better name too.
