  1. How many points will an SPL club be deducted?

The simple answer is 10 points. The only way a club can be deducted more than 10 points is if it goes into administration twice in the same season.

When will they lose the points?

If the "insolvency event" occurs during the season, the points are docked straight away. If it happens in the close season, the club starts the next season on minus 10 points.

Can a club appeal a points deduction?

Only if it can prove it did not go into administration.

What happens if administration lasts over more than one season?

If a club begins a season in administration, they will begin on minus 10 points.

What happens if a club goes into administration twice in one season?

Ten points are docked each time a club goes into administration, unless the events are linked. It is up to the SPL board to decide, this can be appealed.

Will a club still be able to sign players?

No. The only exception is if a team requires an emergency goalkeeper or if a club is looking to replace a player who has left the club. This means no permanent transfer and no loan signings. Clubs can still sell players. The SPL board has the final say.

How many points will a First, Second or Third Division (SFL) club lose?

The SFL do not have a set figure. The amount docked from clubs is decided by the board on a case-to-case basis. The SFL are also likely to impose a registration embargo. There are no fixed punishments and the SFL can set any conditions it chooses.

Can an SFL team be thrown out of the league mid-season?

No. Gretna and Livingston were relegated to the Third Division for being in administration but this can only happen in the close season.

What can the Scottish FA do to clubs?

The Scottish FA's Judicial Panel has the power to suspend or terminate the membership of any club which goes into administration. This has never happened.

Alternatively, the SFA can instead choose to “censure, fine, sanction and/or penalise the member in such manner as it considers appropriate”. This has nothing to do with points deductions. The SFA has never exercised this power.

Another option available to the SFA is to exclude a club from the Scottish Cup. This is a new provision which first appeared in the organisation’s articles of association in the 2011/12 season.

Can UEFA do anything to Scottish clubs in administration?

If a club is playing in Europe, it needs a UEFA club licence. If a club goes into administration but has already been given permission to play, it will not lose its licence for the season.

Would a club get a new licence when in administration?

It is unlikely. The club would have to prove it owes no money to other clubs, to its employees, and to HM Revenue and Customs.

Additionally, the club would also have to prove to the SFA it is likely to survive until the end of the season in which the licence applies to. Club licenses are valid for one season and are granted at the start of each season.

What happens when a club wants to exit administration?

A Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) is drafted for a club to try and reach an agreement with its creditors. Clubs must agree with those it owes money to over how much to pay back, and over what period of time.

Everyone who is owed money is then invited to vote on the proposal. A 'yes' vote is required from creditors up to 75% of the value of the overall debt. For example, if total debt is £10 million, the company must receive the backing from creditors to the tune of £7.5 million.

How long does it take before the club is out of administration?

If a CVA is approved, creditors have a period of 28 days to register their opposition to the decision.

If there is no opposition, the club exits administration and continues in its current form, paying back its creditors over the agreed period of time.

What if a club fails to reach an agreement?

A club may try again to reach a satisfactory agreement with its creditors. But, if is unable to agree a deal, the company will be dissolved and the club will cease to exist.

There is an alternative for football clubs. As was the case in England with Leeds United, the insolvent company can create a "phoenix" club and attempt to transfer every part of the club to a new business, leaving behind the debt.

  2. With hindsight no riots were caused. But I think my point is still a fair one. What Evra did was far more likely to cause one. If Evra had refused to shake Suarez's hand and Liverpool went on to win and then Suarez had danced around in front of Evra like a grade A fucking fud everyone would have went fucking mental. Ferguson would have accused him of exactly the same thing (inciting riots) and rightly so.

All of that is hypothetical. Not worth getting bothered about man.

I wouldn't be against Kenny walking at the end of the season. But only because of the results. Not because of any of this nonsense. This whole affair has been embarrassing and hugely thrilling for everyone who doesn't support LFC but I wouldn't want the manager to walk over these incidents.

I don't like LFC, but I find this far from thrilling. It's been a desperate situation and it has brought out the worst in football fans (both sides and beyond) when it really wasn't about all that nonsense in the first place.

But yes, i'd be the same in that I'd want it to be down to actual football and not all this other stuff.  They should take a look at his transfer record in particular.  Henderson, Downing and Carroll... woeful.

  3. Should've known some pedant would come up with that.  ::) I think it's obvious the point I was making was indeed something you admit yourself later on:

And he was an unlikeable prick a couple of weeks back at Anfield. That's not a new thing. Hence he got booed. Are we still struggling to understand?

He was booed because Liverpool fans see him as the guy who got Suarez banned. Obviously that wasn't Suarez's fault. Oh no.

And if he wasn't booed for that, why did he not usually, regularly get booed at Anfield before all this?

Ferguson did say that there was no need for it but then went on to more or less say it was ok and you couldn't blame him. Well if it had incited a riot then you fucking could and should have blamed him. My point was that everyone focused on this handshake thing but by far the greatest "riot" risk came from Evra's actions at the end of the game and compared to the handshake that's been largely overlooked. Whether Evra is the victim or not doesn't really matter at this point.

Don't think either situation was going to incite a riot, to be honest.  Both players just made massive cunts of themselves.

Yes Kenny has handled it badly. But is it really beyond the fucking realms of possibility that he genuinely wasn't aware that the handshake didn't take place? Suarez let him down. I think Kenny made an honest mistake and he has since apologised. Yet another case of something getter made to be a fucking huge deal when it just isn't.

And Geoff Shreeves is a cunt.

I was talking about Dalglish at the start of this whole thing, not necessarily what he said on Saturday.  But he acted a cunt then, too. What a surprise.  I don't think Saturday was an honest mistake from him, he went on the defensive straight away without (if he's to be believed) not having all the facts in front of him.  Idiotic, to say the least.

Suarez may well have let Dalglish down on Saturday but Dalglish let himself down all through this and his reputation has suffered as a result.

  4. Boring affair? You guys, like the media have loved every fucking second.  ::)

Mistakes were made and I'm glad apologies have been made since.

SAF stated that Suarez could've caused a riot by not shaking Evra's hand. Hmmm... seems highly unlikely to me. But what could easily have done and did almost cause a riot was Evra's OTT celebrations at the end right in front of Suarez. While we're banning people for unsportsmanlike behaviour we can ban Evra for that.  ::) And no, the fact that Evra was a victim in October doesn't make it ok. And folk wonder why he got booed.

You can bet your bottom dollar that this won't go away. Not for long anyway. The media and both sets of fans will get right back to it next time the clubs play.

So he got booed for doing something that he hadn't yet done? That really is amazing foresight.

Pretty much everyone - Ferguson included but you didn't mention that - agreed Evra was out of order. If only Dalglish and Liverpool weren't stupidly blind at the time and had admitted that one of their players had acted like a massive cunt all this nonsense could have been avoided.  Dalglish dug himself a hole and kept on digging. He's made an absolute mess of it and I wouldn't be surprised if he walks at the end of the season.

But they couldn't set aside the tribal aspect of it, they couldn't see it wasn't about Liverpool v Man Utd and actually about right v wrong.  Everyone knows Evra is an unlikeable prick, but that's nothing to do with this at all, is it? But it keeps getting peddled. What an absolute shambles.

  5. From yesterday's Fiver:

Ever since the investigation began five years ago into deposits made by Mandaric into a Monaco bank account owned by Redknapp, the two men have been like a pair of strikers awaiting a cross from Aaron Lennon, wondering where it would go and would anyone get hurt.

    ;D

  6. I currently have a picture of Willie Miller and Fergie right after our Super Cup win, but it's been on the wall for a while now and wanted a change hence this thread.  Think I may get a few smaller pics of favourite past players and thought of using SNS Pics as they have a fairly decent library to choose from.

Anyone know of anywhere else that does similar?

  7. Some folk get far too wound up about what managers say.  Most of them seem to be posting in this thread.

I seem to remember a time not too long ago when we had a good manager that had us jetting off to Spain, Germany, Greece and the Ukraine.  Folk seemed to be far too hung up about what he was saying in interviews.  Can't say I paid too much attention to what was said back then and I certainly can't remember much of it now.

Managers are asked stupid leading questions at times.  Questions that the interviewer knows they can't answer honestly.  In a world where fans are so fickle that they call for sackings 3 games into a season and managers are bound by governing bodies not to express their opinions on referees; are you really surprsed they end up talking shite?

I'm in it for the 90 minutes.  Anything else is just filler until the next game is on.

If you're just in it for the 90 mins, then why does it matter where we got pumped?  Personally, I'm more concerned about my team winning than getting a jolly abroad that was never going to amount to anything other than that. But maybe that's not the "cool" answer.

  8. I liked Munich the first time I went there, but i've been back 4(?) times since then, and every time I like it a little less.

Cologne was surprisingly good and Berlin is Berlin.

I'm taking in Hamburg for the first time this year.

Hamburg is ace, absolutely crazy place. People are fantastic, had a very bizarre night in the Golden Poodle club (not as shady as it sounds!) but it's ranked as one of the best clubs in Hamburg even though it's essentially just a shack that has grass growing out of the roof.

  9. To be fair, I won't hear a bad word about the Germans.  Munich is fantastic and the locals were all excellent.

I really wasn't overly impressed by Munich. Compared to Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin it's pretty tame but Germans seem to be a friendly bunch in my experience.

Agree on the food, Dave.  Absolutely gash.

  10. Anyone else think Kenny did another shocking interview after tonight's game? Some horrendous comments.

    Aye, he's a classless cock.

He should concentrate on getting his team actually winning at home rather than trying to fight a fight he shouldn't even be contemplating.

  11. Long time since there was an update on the team's results, so how is it going  ???

Currently 5th in the league mate, lost 3-2 last Sunday to St Mirren, should have got all 3 points as the lads had their best performance of the season.  I really felt for them as they deserved so much from the game.

The reason there hasn't been updates is that a lot of games have been called off and that one gimp from Mad (Mason 89) caused a fair bit of aggro after the report of the Dumbarton game so the decision was made to can it, unfortunately.

But I really was so proud of the lads last Sunday. They played the game in the manner it should be played and really deserved to take the 3 points.

  12. It was a shock that Chelsea took the lead, but i've felt Man United have an air of vulnerability at the moment. Didn't look very convincing though some of the link up play was pretty good at times. I was only when they were 3-0 down and got the first penalty that they really started going, Rooney in particular. A couple of excellent saves from De Gea at the very end as well.

rio is finished. Evans has been playing v well recently but having rio next to him and evra on the other side tends to panic him.  He is a fine player but he's being sold by the supposed class and experience around him.  Time for Evra to drop out.  Had Vidic played today it'd have been a comfortable United victory.

Postiga's goal for Zaragoza is superb, quality volley

  13. Paul Lawrie, AFC's most famous fan, produced awesome golf today to win the Qatar Masters for the 2nd time.

    Anyone else watch it?

Only managed to catch a wee bit today but saw a fair bit yesterday and he's striking the ball superbly, great to see. Didn't catch the outcome of the discussion on the green where he'd dropped his ball on the marker (or vice versa), what happened with that?

  14. wasn't my intention - I was just saying that's the reason folk hype up a mediocre player... i.e. the board is shite and won't pay for Arnason, therefore Arnason must be a fuckin legend - it's just a bit fucked up, ken.

It's the old "who can moan the loudest and be the most negative" syndrome that many spastic fans love to involve themselves with.

Don't agree he's mediocre. He's not the player many make him out to be, for sure, but if the club can keep him it'd be a superb piece of business I reckon. He's the sort of guy the team's missed since Heikkinen left us. i.e. someone who actually knows how to play the game.
