  1. We have the 3rd best defence in the league. Only the OF have better defences. Plus Lanfield is joint top with boruc with clean sheets. Both have 13, 1 better than Mcgergor

Regardless, the defence isn't great.  Any given weekend there'll be people on here bemoaning the use of both Foster and Mulgrew as full backs, which seems to signal that the centre halves and keeper are carrying that defence. As Zander is a first pick centre half, I stand by what I said.

  2. http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1190289

    I say yes!

But anyway, doesn't Harper write McKimmie's atricles? Harper trying to look like the good guy for once?

Does Charlie Allan not write both their articles?

I say "no". It's stating the obvious going on the rest of the season, but we just don't score enough goals and without Zander the defence will be weakened and it wasn't too great to begin with. The performance against Celtic was one of the most insipid I've ever seen from us. Looks like the players just want the season over and done with...I know the feeling.  :(

  3. Some stats on the 4 different centre back pairings United have had, which hopefully backs up my argument to a degree:

Vidic & Ferdinand have played together 20 times and United have recorded 13 cleans sheets. Vidic & Evans have played together 8 times and recorded 7 clean sheets. Ferdinand & Evans have played together 3 times and recorded no clean sheets. Evans & O'Shea have played together once and failed to record a clean sheet.

  4. ;D That's brilliant!!

You should see him warming up to give training at FC Twente. Absolutely blistering training regime, the guy is still seriously fit. I asked him he wished he was still playing, and he said not at all. I was quite shocked, as most players are gutted they can't still play. His answer was that he didn't want to run out as a second rate player, when he knew he couldn't give his best anymore. He'd prefer not to play at all anymore, rather than showing up and letting himself and others down. Pretty cool answer. The guy is so down to earth too, it's unreal.

That's quality mate. i saw the pic too

I genuinely believe that we've had two of the best keepers ever at Aberdeen in Leighton and Warner Theo.

  5. as a side note regarding Theo, he totally revolutionised the way goalkeepers prepare themselves for games in this country.  Their warm ups used to hardly make them break sweat, but Theo was out for a good 45 mins before kick off getting put through his paces.  All that's changed now, and it must be down to him.

I met him when the Dons were doing pre-season training in 1990, and being a kind of star struck kid, the only thing I could think of saying to him was "Great save in the Cup Final, Theo" and he replied with "It was nothing, really."  Cool as fuck!

  6. We are both kinda right and both kinda wrong, K?  Put it this way I would struggle to find another defender that suits Rio perfectly and i would struggle to find one that suits Vidics perfectly aswell.

Great news, also I posted at 0-2 down on two other forums United would wion 3-2, YAY ME.

I do actually agree with that, they're the perfect foil for each other and they are probably the partnership closest to Miller and McLeish that Fergie has had down there.

However, if you cast your mind back to when Roy Keane left United, what did he say about Rio?  That he wasn't the player he thought he was and in general that was the feeling at Old Trafford, there was a lot of grumbling going on about his performances.  His best seasons have coincided with Vida being there.  Vidic obviously feels more comfortable with Rio next to him, but I'm inclined to say that Rio needs Vidic more than vice versa.

    5-2, Berbatov

  7. Easy to say that, what about the last few weeks though eh? Porto gave Evans really covered himself in glory then did he along side Vidic?

    What?

Vidic didn't have a good couple of weeks, starting with Liverpool, but Rio was next to him then, so your point doesn't really stand up there, does it?

    2-2 Rooney.

  8. I agree but the saem cane be said for Vidic, has looked dodgy as hell when Rio hasn't played.

As for Tevez, he is just a machine, full of pace and energy and I also hope he stays.

You mean all those games when United didn't concede when Vida had Evans beside him?

2-1 now, Ronaldo pen, was never a penalty.

  9. He's been pretty rotten for a season or so now! Sounds like a good game, but hopefully united will turn it around!

Can't believe he's up for POTY, he needs Vidic holding his hand most of the time. Getting out-muscled by Darren Bent... it just shouldn't happen.

  10. Tevez for Nani at half time. Nani is a fucking waste of a jersey. No doubt he has the ability, and is probably the best crosser of a ball at Old Trafford but fuck me he really is so ineffectual 90% of the time.

  11.

People just look at things on the surface, perhaps see a headline and jump to the most awful of conclusions about people who really loved our club. Snelders still logs onto the forums, he still loves our club. Seeing him described as a cunt would, I'd imagine, come as a surprise.

But hey ho.... "Huck The Funs" must know something we don't.

He did say in a huns matchday programme interview that the one thing he wanted to do in his career was to run out for Aberdeen at Pittodrie and hear the fans chant his name.  He was a great player for us, and I would like to think the reason he stayed for so long at Pittodrie is because he loved the club and had a great relationship with the fans.  I'm not saying that it didn't sadden me when he left, and in particular the fact he went to them, but he was phenomonal for us and I'll always think highly of him regardless of who he played for after us.

  12. Spoke to my mate, and he said just head anywhere along the Danube. Thats where all the bars are and he said when he went there was one call Cube (funnily enough a glass cube) on the river. Hope that helps!

    Cheers buddy, all duly noted!

McKimmie and Robertson, despite their obvious failings in certain aspects, were brilliant players for us, McKimmie in particular given length of service etc
