  1. Baggy min, you'd probably get more answers if you had your wee rant over on the hat - allow folk to clear up what you're angry about? The Kerr thread on here seemed to be derailed by a load of balloons getting mortally offended at the idea that there were Weegie neds involved and the first reaction to this news is disgust that those racist Hatters who eat babies might think they might have had the slightest bit of influence over it. I dinna think folk care as much as yous think they do, honestly lads. Jimmy's gone, the support is united, it's summer, Donstalk had 70 people online at one point (unconfirmed). Celebrate!
  2. Fair enough - fall on my sword I will. Was probably a bit too hasty with the press thing too but that would've been born out of stupidity and naivety rather than anything else. Life ban for Pittodrie for me? Enjoy the rest of the season folks
  3. The irony here is a strong one. I've never said I represented anyone other than the guys protesting. Damp squib - c'est la vie.
  4. Objections to the protest are fine - trying to lump it in with the helicopter tribute in a blatant EE PR exercise is beneath contempt.
  5. Not specifically Al, I fired off a few emails Monday morning to get a bit of publicity for the protest and it's gone from there. Plus I can deal with the inevitable internet sweary words from those who didn't agree with our point of view. Come Saturday I'll just be another guy protesting and not the ringleader however. We will be presenting our point of view, although I'd hope what has been said will also spark a bit of debate and get others to put across the alternative point of view.
  6. We should be aiming to be above them and aiming to make Aberdeen the team to finish above if teams want Europe. IMO the minimum effort performances and soundbites from the club would back up my opinion. At the end of the day, people are going to make up their own minds up as to whether what was written by the DR was what I actually said - judging by some it'll depend on whether it fits their opinion of the protest rather than my own personal integrity.
  7. To set the record straight - I actually said that to the guy, that the protestors were a mixture of guys who were possibly members of various supporters groups and it seems to have caused a bit of confusion somewhere along the line. Rest of the article is pretty much spot on though.
  8. You could be well be right, again I'll open myself up to mockery and say the honest truth is that I've never taken part in a protest like this and none of us know how it'll go. While I take your point regarding the protest having the opposite effect, I'll disagree on that. Time will tell I suppose, but it really is as simple as us feeling that there's a lot to gain from this and very little to lose. As Pittodrie are now aware of what's planned, they'll already be considering what the impact of any protest will have on some of the fan's feelings on JC. Let's use the ball park figure of 100 there purely to protest. When you chuck in probably a similar amount of folk there to have a look and see what this protest is all about, and a bit of media presence - you've got a fairly sizeable group there. If it's a bad result for us on Saturday then I'd even go as far to say that the demo will swell up and the sheer presence of people will be enough to get a fairly strong message across. The EE are happy to publish articles with players like Jamie Smith coming out and backing the manager, rather than the mollycodldling appraoch I feel that if the players are true to their word then they'd come out and fight for their manager? There have been plenty of other ways discontent has been spread - a mjaor supporters group publishing an open letter asking for his dismissal, online petitions, booing at games and most importantly - folk staying away. This is just another way of expressing that discontent.
  9. Would like to think on a personal level that I'm able to engage in discussion fatjim, and I'll dispute your view that everyone protesting is not open to other opinions. The guys I'm thinking of would probably be the same, although I can't speak for everybody clearly.
  10. Nope, but the more attention and wider audience the protest gets the better.
  11. I spoke to the guy who'll be covering the game for the DR on Saturday. Mentioned the reasons behind the protest, how we feel it's come to this stage and what we are looking to acheive with the protest. Spoke a bit about the future and made the point that we felt that even though there is no one outstanding candidate for the job that we are of the opinion that any fear of the unknown was not sufficient reason for JC to stay. I did make it clear that I wasn't claiming to speak on behalf of all (or even a majority) of Dons fans. I'll wait till I see any article of course before I make judgement on the portrayal of my words. Think it's important that the Weeg media are aware of the protest in any case.
  12. I'm from AFC-Chat, yes. Any other reasonable points of discussion you'd like to have, or is it just going to be along the likes of "cunt" and "fucking trumpet" from here on in?
  13. A gathering outside the Main Stand waiting for important looking people in suits to come out. Hooters and banners have been mentioned too. If we lose against Caley then the protest will be a lot bigger, not something that we are hoping happens though - contrary to popular belief. Only speaking for myself here but I'd welcome anybody coming up to me on the day and having a civilised conversation about the pros and cons of the protest. It's a shame that those who are protesting are the type to listen to and engage in reasoned arguments, whereas a lot of the anti-protestors are the ones coming out with the boiling anger and explicitives who would be quite handy in a protest.
  14. I'm personally guessing around 100, but by quoting that I'm leaving myself open to a bit of stick if it doesn't happen. From what I've heard the bit on the back P&J today was pretty much an advert for the protest, throw in a few more if it goes Pete Tong during the match. If it's a damp squib then it's a damp squib and we'll take the inevitable stick that'll come with that.
  15. If you stopped throwing the obscenities about then you might find that folk might be a bit more receptive to your opinions.
  16. Well I certainly won't be following Mr Rehman's lead on Saturday. As far as I'm aware lies were told by the EE yesterday, as backed up by Mizer's post there. Thankfully it sounds like the P&J haven't fucked about and twisted my words. Happy to have a reasoned debate with any of you guys on here regarding the planned protest.
  17. If the players care about JC staying as much as they say they do, then they should come out all guns blazing surely? If it's nae your thing then it's nae your thing. And to whichever person said it's been badly organised, what actually needs to be organised? Folk walking from the pub to the Main Stand? I know sometimes it's a struggle after a few but I don't think we're really needing an in-depth co-ordination strategy here.
  18. Listened to it on the wireless, sounded a bit like all the Falkirk games this season when we've toiled a bit but still come away with the points. Which is the mark of Champions
  19. Ooh, Anniesland is a whole separate area from the West End in my view... Are you going to the game tonight? 'fraid not, it's the week before payday and I've about £4.87 to my name
  20. I'm westenddon, I'm 23 and I live in Anniesland in Glasgow but I'm originally from the Buchan area. Don't get up as much as I'd like, but I try to get to as many games down here as I can (last one was the Queen's Park, nae luck!) but erm, aye. First game at Todders was a 1-1 draw with Dunfermline in 1992, seem to remember Eoin Jess banging one in at the old Beach end. I'd also give my left ball for us to make the Champions League group stages next season
