And I shall allow you to do just that.
its an argument thats been done to death already, but ill re-iterate
flair players do NOT produce every game, they cant
the ones who do, ie ronaldo and messi, they are worth circa 100m
the lower echelon, ie Nani, Zerouali, Arshavin and such like dont, but you have them in your team because theyre capable of something noone else in your team is
-
Yes, passenger. Not good enough, blessed with lovely skill but not good enough often enough.
mate i will rip your willy open with my bare hands
-
Awesome. A wonderfully skillful passenger.
And as for speaking ill of the dead? Fuck sake grow up.
passenger?
shut your fucking mouth, clown.
noone in our current team could come close to replicating some of the absolute genius that little man conjured up
-
Since when did giving a reasoned argument constitute speaking ill of the dead.
I think you summed up everything about your arguments about this and other threads there though. You let your feelings for a player cloud your judgement. To the point you can't even give a reasoned argument back to someone who has offered one against you.
maybe youre right
in fact, no, you are right
so theres next to no point in talking to me about Zerouali as i list him on a par with Larsson and Laudrup as the greatest players to play in the SPL, there will be no convincing me otherwise
i dont give 2 shits about paul hartley however so my views on him can be heard fine
-
He was talismanic there, so yes, he was a brilliant player for Hearts who have come the closest to breaking Old Firm dominance in recent years. In addition, he played a decent amount of Champions League games and games for Scotland. If we are talking about brilliant players in the SPL, then I think most rational thinkers would have have Hartley up there...
"up there"...
if you mean in the running for "brilliant", then i dont agree
theres WAY better players than him who have played in the SPL
its all academic though anyway, as we're talking about him 5,6 years ago and whats the point in that?
-
That's Zerouali out the running then.
i quite clearly was intimating that consistence for a non-old firm team does NOT constitute brilliance
so what you on about?
Zerouali was NOT consistent
no flair players bar Messi and Ronaldo are
he was however absolutely fucking brilliant sometimes
-
I wouldn't say so. He was very hit or miss at Aberdeen. In the end he left Aberdeen after a very up and down spell, had a brief stint in Saudi Arabia and then ended up back in Morocco.
If he'd been as good as some folk used to say, he'd have got a gig in Spain or England, or somewhere like that, after leaving Aberdeen.
With Zerouali, there were occassional flashes of brilliance... but that's all they ever were. There was never a sustained spell of good form. If he was any better than average, he'd have dominated the SPL. In reality, he was nowhere near that level.
im not touching this post with a barge pole
i like you SOTR, a lot as it happens so im leaving this be
my love for Zerouali, my ill-feeling towards speaking ill of the dead and my general acceptance that i sometimes let my passion for circumstances close to my heart, take over my brain and result in a vitriolic spiel towards the OP, leads me to my conclusion
-
He is obviously at it with comments like that. Lee Miller classed as excellent in Scotland, michty me.
As far as the noughties (for lack of a better term) I think you will struggle to identify any more influential and consistent player whilst playing for a team outside of the Old Firm than Paul Hartley at Hearts...
and does consistent for a team outwith the old firm constitute "brilliance" these days?
-
BTW, loving mentioning Lee Miller in the same post as Laudrup and Larsson! He fairly teared it up at Notts County!
haha was wondering when someone would pick me up on it!
-
Outstanding
Brilliant
Good, if could be bothered
Average
poorly said
-
In those terms neither was Zerouali or Miller.
Poorly said, very very poorly said.
glad its catching on!
-
Poorly said.
haha, you've got it now
-
Hartley has never been brilliant, like one of the best players in Scotland?
Laudrup, Gascoigne, Zerouali, Larsson, Lee Miller and Moravcik were brilliant
paul hartley has never been, in those terms
-
Is it only 'well said' if they agree with you?
in my opinion, yes
otherwise, if someone said something i dont agree with, it would be "poorly said"
-
is this because he was our focal point of EVERY attack and was more often than not too deep on the park to score goals?
-
Massive difference between being a player who was formerly brilliant, still has it but can't manage 38 games a season yet for ninety minutes will make himself seen and heard and be the mouthpiece the team needs and being a player who can do magical things with a ball but only when you can be arsed. If your team mates doesn't pass you're prone to have a massive strop yet have the cheek to try ridiculous shots from all angles with about 1 in 10 resulting in a game.
Each to their own though.
calm down
Hartley has never been BRILLIANT
also hate the way youre making it out as if i dont like the guy
-
Being honest, I have been really disappointed with Hartley bar a few games, the only stand out performance I can recall was Raith Rovers where he single handedly won us the game.
Overall, he has looked past it, slow, gives the ball away to much and where I totally disagree with Kelt, miles off a man, I don't mean his mand as at some times he's been so far away from any man its difficult to work out who he's meant to be up against in midfield.
Yes he is a good captain, or so it appears on the outside, but if he wasn't captain i'd want him out the team, assuming we had Fyvie or Pawlett fully fit, as we don't then we don't have any real options.
well said
-
First of all i think his performances since brown took over back up EVERYTHING i have said about the twat since the start of the season, where was all this effort when Mcghee was in charge? told me exactly what sort of human being he was, and exactly what sort of proffesional he was. If i was the manager i wouldnt be waiting to see if he did the same to me.
Anyone AT the game would have seen his reaction in the first 5 minutes when vernon "correctly enough in my view" went for goal when only the keeper to beat (something bebo did himself 5 mins later) spent the next 5 minutes sulking after throwing a massive hissy girly fit at vernon for not passing.
mind you, you would have seen that sitting infront of your laptops ;D
like i said plain for all to see hes not interested in the club nor the fans (going by his self idulgent celibrating) soon he will realise he is not as good as he thinks he is, and there isnt a group of clubs lining up for him.
His interview about being left out of the scotland squad earlier in the week was utter fucking shambles and if anyone can defend that then they are the dicks. No wonder he is never picked for the first team.
Cant wait till the little cunt fucks off to the lower leagues where he belongs.
you really are an odious twat
jealous much?

This
Vernon leads the line and is more clinical than Miller did or was IMO.
From what I've seen I'd take Vernon over Miller every time.
At least he's getting into the position to miss the chances. Miller was usually picking himself off of the floor when chances were created and he should have been on the end of them.
correct
picking himself up off the floor after outjumping a brute and turning a hopeless long punt towards him into a killer pass foran onrushing diddy who wasnt on same wavelength
-
He's definitely off the boil at the moment compared to earlier in the season.
interesting...
-
Are you objecting?
och, fine...
"objection your honour"
haha;)
-
Never stopped you before.
completely incorrect.
-
Google is better than Yahoo.
And no. I'd have thought you would already know enough about this fella anyway given your love for snap judgements.
i know nothing about him, so cant make any judgements whatsoever
-
really?
doesnt piss you off when all you wanna do is find out some news on the guy but i cant cos all of you yahoos are attempting to be humourous?
