  1. AC/DC. I'm always listening to AC/DC because I think they are the dogs bollocks but been listening to more Bon Scott albums. It really grates on me when folk argue about who is better, Bon Scott or Brian Johnson. Both of them are fantastic front-men and without the pair of them, AC/DC would never be the band they are today.

  2.

I hope you're right but I suspect that I'm not wrong unfortunately.

Too many jump to conclusions too soon, this is known, but this is not something I'm guilty of.

    Normally.

It is remarkably quick for me to write him off, probably the quickest I've ever denounced a new player at AFC.

But I see donkeyesque-isms on a gross scale in Zola and in my experience, those who are capable of such ineptitude and who clearly lack basic skills can not possibly come good. I've not seen the youtube stuff about him that suggests that there is a footballer in there so my judgement may well be premature. I hope I am wrong but by fuck he looks absolutely horrendous to me, utterly horrific.

I do agree with you there. At the minute, he looks pretty shite but I'm always of the opinion, give anyone a chance. Certainly if they don't improve then and you've given them a fair chance then it's well within your right to berate them. Much like me and Langfield who I think should have been punted years ago and will always cost you more than he saves you. However, with the showing of Weaver against Celtic and now Hearts, I'll actually be glad to see Langfield back! That say's it all about our goalkeeping situation, our poor and it seems, almost lazy scouting to address a glaring problem and for years, the failure to sign a capable No.1.

  3. I don't think McInnes rates Vernon very highly whatsoever, and based on last seasons performance, who can blame him? I don't know if he will be gone by the end of the window but a mutual termination would suit both parties IMO. I don't rate Magennis whatsoever and would like him to leave but given a choice as to who I would rather see come off the bench between those pair, I would have to choose Magennis.

And also Zola, at least (along with any new signing/youngster etc), at least give him a chance. He had 25 mins of pre-season and we're only into the 3rd game of the season and Rocket has already written him off. He may never be the best player in Scotland but a lot of far worse players than him have been very effective in Scottish football. He looks like he might have a touch of doing something tremendous one minute and something laughable the next. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hopefully once he opens his account, he'll score reguarly.

  4. Where to start...

Landmark Hotel on Sukhumvit Road is where we stayed (honeymoon).

Use the skytrain to get about - they're air-conditioned which is great respite.

The river taxis are also great fun, just don't put any part of your anatomy in the water.

If you must take a taxi, make sure it is one with the "taxi-meter" sign on it.

You absolutely must spend an entire day in Khao San Road.

Use the tuk-tuks with the white license plates and not the blue ones.

Golden Palace is definitely worth a look.

Patpong night market although seedy is also good.

Muay Thai - don't worry if you can't get tickets in Bangkok as they'll have events in Phuket as well.

Go to a restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms.  It's affiliated to a sexual health clinic.  Despite the name, it is a really good restaurant in a really good setting - a roof terrace with lots of greenery, like an oasis in the city.

The people are wonderful and mostly genuinely helpful.  You will get the odd bad egg but just keep your wits about you and all valuables out of sight.

You will genuinely go into some bars at night (especially in Patpong) and see western men openly cavorting with boys and girls of questionable age.  It is a seedy city especially at night but if you accept this and have the right attitude about it you'll be fine.

For the bridge over Kwai/death railway trip, it's almost an all-day thing plus you are strongly advised to take malaria medication.  We didn't think it would be worth it.  Best thing I'd advise is not to be sucked in too much by the excursions put on by your tour operator.  You'll pay western prices for things that need only cost a pittance, and the deal is that when you get to the destination you are then expected to buy a heap of shit that you don't want or need.  We went to a diamond factory or something and it was a complete and utter waste of an afternoon and money.

All in all, Thailand is a great place, you wont regret going.

Cheers very much for all the info. Will definitely do a whole day of Khao San Road and will take your advice on travelling about with the sky ride, tuk tuks etc. I'm still not sure about the Kwai, just an idea but will obviously have to give it more thought if it's a whole day job/malaria jabs. It certainly looked it when I did a bit of research on it so I'll have a think. I hear what you're saying about the prices for tour operators. I'll stay clear unless it's something we've planned to do e.g snorkelling or a boat journey to some of the islands.

  5.

The only tip I can give you is what my wifes uncle told me (he was there when he was in the Marines)

Feel for an adams apple before taking a woman back to your hotel

Thanks!  :-\ The only woman I will be taking back is the woman I went there with so pretty sure she doesn't have one!!

  6. We've booked Thailand for two weeks. Last week in October, first week in November! Can anyone give me any tips? Places to see and things to do? The plan so far is get into Bangkok and stay in Bangkok for 3/4 nights and then get an internal flight somewhere, poss Phuket and move around from there until we have to go back to Bangkok for our return flight. Anyone know of any good hotels around central Bangkok?! Trip advisor is doing my nut in!

Things that we are keen to do so far is night time safari, see a boxing match whilst we're in Bangkok , snorkelling etc, see the bridge over the River Kwai, go and see some of the markets/temples in Bangkok. That's all we've thought about but there will be no doubt countless more to come yet.

  7. Saturday. 12:30 ko.

Sorry guys but this has got let down written all over it for me. Time and time again we've had big games and if we won we could have gone top. I believe there was one at Pittodrie last season and it was a massive let down. This is a real measure of the team this season and the management of DM McInnes. If we can grind out a result I'd be ecstatic and this is one of the poorer Celtic teams of recent times but I've been an Aberdeen fan for too long to get really confident about this one.

I hear you brother. Time and time again in 'big' games, we haven't turned up and it's been a monumental let down. However, I do feel there is something different about this game for some reason. If we go at them, don't panic and just play the football we have done so far this season, I really think we can get a result. With Hayes, Pawlett, Flood and McGinn starting the season so brightly along with Robson and Jack, I don't see any reason why we can't get a result.

Looks like it could be very close to a sell out which just underlines that if you get a team on the park capable of doing something, then the fans will follow. Season ticket holders with unused under 12 seats have been urged to get in contact with the club so they can sell more.

  8. Mate of mine is at the Brentford - Celtic friendly today (septic fan), saying the glorious Green Brigade are representing them well again...throwing flares and pies at the ground staff.... ::)

Don't believe that for a second. Best fans in the world.
