  1. Maybe he's having a pop at us Internet-based JC abusers. I guess that's an open invitation to call him a bumbling, clueless fat pig any time you see him.

Thats what I suspected. Maddo wifie next to us at the Murrawell 1-1 game was screaming at JC "Its the fucking sack you need" at FT. No, she was shrieking it out, not screaming, but he heard it all right.

Only time I felt genuine symathy for him. I thought we'd played well and were unlucky not to win, and I don't think we were expecting too much that night, as there had been some poor stuff in the previous games.

JIMMY CALDERWOOD went for a quiet pint with his dad in a Govan social club last weekend and found himself caught in the crossfire of Old Firm banter.

Caldo enjoyed the light-hearted fun with the Govan locals. "I didn't know what side to sit at because I would get dog's abuse either way so I just planted myself in the middle - and still got dog's abuse!

"Seriously, those guys are salt of the earth people. They were just joking and wanted to buy me a drink after it but at least they tell you to your face.

He's so salt of the earth himself. Thats what I like about him. Wonder what he means by "at least they tell you to your face"?

  3. Sorry to be the bearer of the negative post in this red-tinted thread, but.....

Many factors come into playing for other teams outwith the Dons.  Money being the obvious one, the fact we've never established ourselves as being the 'third force' (which in itself is pretty laughable), no real chance of silverware or Europe.... well not any better than the other 9 teams.  The fans may turn up in larger numbers than those teams but we don't exactly shower our players in glory everytime they grace the park (how many songs of ours are aimed at any one player?) and then you have the league itself.  For instance, seven games in one season versus Livingstone I'm sure, is as enthrawling for the fans as it is for the players.

Sure you may not go onto a 'bigger' club, but you sure as fuck might enjoy yourself a fair bit more.

Money is the main reason people move, in any walk of life. Football is no different, and although you do get the rare examples like Le Tissier, you get the same loyalty (or perhaps lack of adventurism) again in business. Public sector workers don't do it for the dough.

Why is AFC having an ambition to be the "third force" pretty laughable, though? Not saying they even have this ambition, which in itself is limiting, just wondered what you meant?

  4. The Magnificent seven- The Clash.

As I am, right now. One of my only sustainables from Sandinista, but one of my all time favourites.

Ring ring 7 am, went on to win 50 nil, italian mobster shoots a lobster, seafood restaurant gets out of hand, vacuum cleaner sucks up budgie...

    Pretty fuckin long innit...

  5. Unless... we play dutch fitba? Last Scotland game I went to, we got beat 6-0. This dirge week in, week out, excepting a handful of "where the fuck did that come from" performances this season, can only be bettered.

Yes I know, pedanticists, pedantictiles, pedanticalicists, pedants, pedanticalicismics, top dutch v average dutch.

  6. Despite these inconsistencies and having just read what i've written - where do we actually go from here?

    Questions are easier than answers.

Employ the right people in the right places.

From deputy left back to youth team goal-scorer to regular midfielder to scout to coach to manager to Director of Football to Board all the way up to Chairman, right the way through the organisation, if you have a weak link, or any parts of the whole that don't stack up, the organisation falls down.

Responsibilties are usually clear cut. In the business of football, failing on the pitch is as a result of failure in recruitment and/or failure to prepare and/or failure to motivate and/or failure to organise properly. The manager is ultimately responsible for what goes on on the pitch, but the role of his two "superiors" have to be considered before he can take all of the blame.

  7. Mods, any chance of this thread being stickied?

    No.

    But good luck.

And are you female? Emma's quite a rare name for a bloke.

    Ever been on AFC chat?

Did they try and chat you up? Pray tell the killer lines they used?

Oh, you married one! God they must be better than I thought. Either that or you were very lonely at the time.

    Stand free yersel.

EDIT: Not quite. I usually ask "wanna fuck" or if they look proper "fancy coming back to mine, like right now. I'm gagging for you". Never fails.

  8. How would have investing even more money stopped us playing 4-5-1 at home to motherwell and falkirk and man marking danny invincable

That would be a criticism of JC then. This is the subject above all others on these forums that normally brings out the most vitriol. As these pages contain written opinions, I fail to understand how some people object to the expression of a contrary view to the one they hold themselves?

The JC is good v. JC is bad does degenerate into a pathetic standard of stupid insults and a complete absence of debate on the other AFC forums, but I heven't seen too many direct criticisms of the manager on DT.

I have no faith that Calderwood is capable of taking the "football affairs" of AFC plc any further forward than we are now, and even if he did get an ambitious budget, have no faith in his ability to recruit right.

As expressed above, I think the reasons for our continued mediocrity (at best) for over a decade now, are above JC.

  9. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Although my driving instructor somehow thought it was content. I didn't have the heart to tell him he was talking shite every time he said it.

Way he tells it, he didn't have the heart to tell you.
