  1. Will probably end up as part of Hibs or Pars coaching staff. If he wants to end on a high may try and help the pars get into the spl in player/coach role.
  2. Just when you thought you couldn't get a worse refereeing performance than the semi final against utd, along he comes with this one. He's absolutely dreadful!!
  3. Fair do's..as I say, entitled to our opinions. I meant develop as in get used to the spl. I know they're trying to keep him here next season as well so who knows, he may be here longer than originally planned.
  4. Disagree r.e. Walker but we're all entitled to our opinions. I'd have him in my team and let him develop any day.
  5. I'm surprised Walker has been included within the thread title. What's your thoughts on him El Padre as, to me, there's far worse culprits than him. Walker - he's come up and been put straight into the team - not easy when it's a cup semi then celtic. He obviously needs to adjust to the spl as Boro reserves will be a different kettle of fish (not actually saying the spl is a better standard, just different pace etc.). He wants to get on the ball, can pass with both feet, tries like a bear, wants to take set pieces..pretty much everything you want in a player. He's a young lad though who needs to get up to speed with the spl (and can only do that through games) and experience will help his decision making. I like the look of him and doesn't deserve to be compared with Foster etc. Maguire - still can't get my head round this guy. Nichol a couple of seasons ago said he was the best young talent he's ever worked with. So what's happened to him? He looked good in the reserves playing through the middle. JC has tended to play him right or left but even when he has played through the middle he hasn't looked good. As my old man said today, he looks like he should have a handbag hanging off his arm. Don't know what more to say other than he doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard. A loan spell might help but not convinced. Foster - to me has always been a squad player who seems to have evolved into a regular. Still a squad player in my eyes.
  6. Still think we don't play to Miller's strengths. He scored his goals for Hearts via players getting down the wings, whip the ball across and Miller getting on the end of them. We're playing the ball long and, yes, he'll win some and lose some in the air but it's definitely not the way to play him. Nicholson down the right today can get balls across but we need that outlet regularly to get the best of Miller.
  7. Just hope Maybury's ready for it as well in terms of match fitness. Regardless, I'm pretty confident he'll be a regular full back.
  8. Defence today: Maybury - Diamond - Bus - McNamara Today's obviously going to be a tough test as they'll get domestically, however, depending on what Bus is like let's hope he sticks with it! Defensive partnership #17
  9. Cheers fella. I wouldn't go as far as say I'm a fan, just not as cynical as some. I don't have a problem with people not liking JC, it's just the mindless repitition of individuals who solely post negative crap about him and have nothing else to say. Anyway, don't get me started. Cheers for the welcome!
  10. Playing devil's advocate some would argue - and I'm genuinely not saying me - that after recent seasons' performances in cup competitions (dare I bring up the Queens Park game!) getting to a semi is a decent cup run? I know the doubters already have us out of the Scottish Cup but we're also still in the quarters of it - decent cup run? I absolutely get your point, however, wonder if at this stage in terms of progressing (although I realise we're not playing pretty football) if slating ourselves for not having getting to the final is a bit harsh?
  11. It's just depressing...some points are valid but it's the monotonous repitition of the same points by the same people over and over again. Can you imagine standing next to them at games?? Mind you, half of them don't even go! I've logged into afc-chat a few times but it's obvious there's too many 'fishers' in there.
  12. Certainly don't remember that one but who knows! I'm sure some of those would have been as a result of injuries, however, a fair percentage aren't. The Dundee Utd game has to be the last straw in terms of sorting out the defence. It has to be JC's immediate top priority bar none. Decent teams sort out their defence first then move on to the spine of the team, that's what he needs to do now. In Maybury we have a solid full back, maybe better going forward than defensively, but still solid and better than any other full back we have. Diamond's obviously a cert. He then need to choose and stick with a partner for Diamond and either McNamara and Foster at left back. Once making that selection stick with them and let them form an understanding between themselves and Clangers.
  13. I actually think of all Fergie's proteges in management - from his Aberdeen days, not Man U - McGhee is the one who is most capable of creating that kind of self belief. I'm not a JC knocker, however, if things don't work out for him then we could do far worse than make a concerted effort to bring McGhee in. I suspect by that time it may be too late though.
