  1. Just finished 'Tony Dungy: A Quiet Strength'  A pretty inspirational guy who survived and won in the NFL despite being quiet and laid back.  1st black coach to win the NFL seemingly never shouted at anyone in his life, good story if a little thick on religious rhetoric.

Also just finished Skag Boys - Irvine Welsh, which i thought was pretty decent but don't beleive it was 'just lying around' and had been written much more recently.

Read the latest Stuart Macbride but wasn't overly impressed

  2. just watched Down Terrace, it's good, pretty funny british gangster film.  also watched The Chaser on Film4 and other than the very harrowing chisel through some skulls it was watchable for a Korean thriller.

  3. Been watching some of 30for30 on ESPN Classic. Some of them have been great, others not so much.

    Anyone caught any?

i've seen a few.  Reggie Miller vs the Knicks was excellent, Without Bias was decent, wasn't overly impressed with the U or Jimmy the Greek,  Can't recall any others, i did see the feature length story about Vlade Divac et al the Yugoslavian split, which was excellent

  4. yeh it was decent, nice production and suprisingly they made the most of the park/trees for good acoustics.  you'll need the drink to get you through the gang rape/mutilation scenes though

  5. :hammer:

Not when you're doing your first ever marathon this weekend.  :(

Especially as the start time has been moved back to 11am this year to accommodate the half marathon - lots of dehydrated runners i think!!

  6. I honestly cannot recall ever reading the Daily Mail in my life. I only know it through reputation!

A small-minded person would not openly admit to accepting different races, religions and customs in the country I live in. What does get my goat up is when those people who have migrated to the UK then try and enforce their beliefs TO THE DETRIMENT of our own standards ... as clearly stated when the British Police force felt obliged to apologise to muslims living in the UK because a picture of a British police dog wearing a little British police hat was forced to be taken out of circulation because it offended those muslims!

You keep referring to 'our'? Who is this 'our'? The UK is so vastly different that you can't really pigeon hole 'our own standards' which is a very Daily Mail-esqe phrase.

Again apologising has nothing to do with beliefs more to do with PR companies making a mint from wishing to appear politically correct.

Also the wording in your posts makes it seem like you can only see one big group of burqa wearing zealots intent on spreading the word of Mohammed!  Whereas the reality is the majority of Muslims etc live quietly enjoying their 'own' country - the UK

  7. Why is it okay for muslim women to wear niqabs and burqas to completely cover themselves in the UK, but when western women go to islamic countries, they must cover up?

Aside from the obvious generalisation, anyone, not just muslim women can choose what they like to wear in the UK.  Not an issue here at all.  Different countries have different standards or laws etc i.e. nudist beaches and in the main vistors respect them.

I'm perfectly alright with people of all races, religions and beliefs living in the UK. But when they start forcing their own beliefs on the UK to the detriment of the UK's own institutions, then this is wrong!

I refer to complaints from Dundee-based muslims regarding the postcards sent to them advertising a new non-emergency phone number for the police, with the image on the postcard being of forces puppy Rebel.

Police dogs have been used by British police as far back as the reign of Henry I in the early 1100s. And yet these complaints from the British muslim community about the use of police dogs in an advert actually resulted in an apology being made by the British police towards the muslim community!! Un-fuckin-believable!!

We have always had a proudly cultured society and recently an PC crazy one.  This is more down to PC gone mad than Muslim 'forcing their beliefs on the UK'.  what are the UK's beliefs?

Like I say, I've got no problem with people of different races, religions, etc living in foreign countries. But at least have the decency to adopt and respect the principals and practices of the country that has adopted you!!

The biggest cheek of all.  Brits abroad are the worse, they don't want to adopt any other culture at all.

You come across a small minded Daily Mail reader!

  8. Yeh pretty much instant if you do it via the red button.

ESPN has been pretty decent so far but quite strange in that Sky Sports has copied a lot from ESPN and other american stations shows like Monday Night Football, Super Sundays etc and the pre/post match graphics and production of the shows and yet ESPN are trying to copy Sky Sports.

Really enjoyed seeing Mowbray and Caldwell squirm while being asked about the Mcgeady diving incident while at the same time being showing footage of it!  good stuff

  9. had a pretty good weekend at T.  Didn't see the mad mental neds everyone talks about. Saw some excellent music, beardyman, TV on the Radio (who were immense) and blur were highlights, edwin collins was surreal and the specials were a good laugh.

Didn't think the camping was too bad though glad i had a house in Kinross to go home to after.

  10. miller for me - has been a touch of class

I looked at is as such, do we have a chance of beating the rest of the top six with miller - yes high, without -no, much less

Do we have a chance of beating the rest of the top 6 with Kerr - yes possibly, without - yes

.......with Langfield - yes, without - yes

  11. i've totally changed my view on this - Jimmy and several players must go now.  Wins against Alloa, East Fife, Dunfermilne and Falkirk would have given us european football! 4 games against dross

No other organisation in the world would put up with such mediocrity.

I think i was trying to make the pain of losing easier on myself - but it hasn't worked - i love the cups!

  12. Couldn't bring myself to post last night after so reflection (and watching the game again) i have realised -

How much we rely on Lee Miller, i thought he was having a good year but didn't realise just how much of a hole there was without him.

I genuinely don't blame the players for poor passing, aluko for that finish etc etc - it was the pitch, sky showed that the ball bobbled every time someone went to kick the ball, shocking - simply unable to play the football needed to get aluko/maguire/smith/mackie into the game.  What's not acceptable was Jimmy not realising this and keeping our only other target man (wright) on the bench until 15mins to go.

Why take off maguire/aluko?  Yeh they weren't playing particularly well but how many others were?  At home with half hour left i'd expect a defender or one of the 2 defensive midfielders to be sacrificed not guys who can turn a game regardless of how poor they may have played.

How little i care about the cup!  Yeh its'a good day out but tbh we put far too much onus on it, these days it's pretty worthless other than another way into europe.  Can someone tell me the stastics from those entered into Europe via the cup in the last 5/10 yrs and their records in europe?

Whether we want a change, deem a change required, expect a change or demand a change - it can't happen to the end of the season so we have to get behind the management and players to try get into to europe to give the incoming management team a decent wedge to rebuild.
