  1. Give Robson some credit. When he was given the job on an interim basis, he has picked Agnew to come in and help him with his experience. Robson’s not picked him, like Strachan picked McGhee as a mates mate. He’s picked him because he worked under him and saw how good a coach he was.
Robson has been at enough clubs and international level to know a good coach from a bad one.

  2. I think there’s a good player in Coulson. He’s been poor of late but a better manager and coaching team would get more out of him.  He’s not getting a new contract with a team pushing for promotion to the EPL for nothing.

  3. It’s quite simple. Barring a miracle, Goodwin will be sacked in the summer with less to pay out to him. The season is over. We won’t be relegated under Goodwin. Cormack buys time to identify a ‘better’ or ‘right’ candidate. There’s not enough of the window left to do anything for an incoming manager.
    And away we go again.
the time to sack Goodwin was before Xmas.
The Darvel result was a shock as was 0-5 at tyncastle. But make no mistake. It was clear to see that Goodwin was poor tactically, poor decision making pregame and in game and he simply wasn’t good enough.
I, for one, didn’t need the Darvel and Hearts result to convince me of that.
Cormack missed a trick there because there was still something to play for pre Xmas but he blew it.
the only change likely now is that we lose another couple and are embarrassed further and that will force him to appoint from within on a temporary basis as the pressure will be too much to sack Goodwin, even though he wants to keep him until the end of the season.
the statement he’s put out is a complete embarrassment but because he’s billy big baws with his whiter than white teeth, he’s tried to let the fans know that he’s the man and he will tolerate no more etc etc. complete shite, but deep down he knows he’s fucked up.

I think we’re about his level, he’s not that good.

I disagree.  I think Coulson is a good footballer and would do better than he currently is if he was in a better team.
he is balanced, has quick feet, reads the game well, strong in the tackle and as much as I’d like for him to stay long term, I think he will go on to bigger things, if he stays injury free.

  5. McInnes has chosen not to condemn Lafferty. His choice.
I think Lafferty was set up and it was a bit of banter that got out of hand. He fell for the bait because he’s thick and been brought up a certain way.

That said McInnes could have done so much better and he may have if it had been a player from ‘the other side’.

Neither ‘side’ are any good. They are both utterly terrible and the sad part is that the vast majority of Scottish football side with one or the other.

McInnes is just one in a Million.

Visa sorted. We're getting quicker and quicker with these. Hopefully good enough to go into the squad for Sunday.

We’re not. The visa system is quicker.

    it’s what westminster government promised

Giving a manager one window to sign ten players isn't backing him massively though. Backing him would be allowing him to build a team. There are some serious cracks appearing that suggest that might not be a good idea. I just hate to see this suggestion that because money he should be coasting in third, it's not fair. You can't just buy success in a single season, just ask the Huns. We should be expecting inconsistency in a new team, and the expectation should have been made clear by our chairman at the beginning of the season. If we were to punt Goodwin - for tactical ineptitude - a new manager should be backed over a few windows. It's important to separate the two. The club are in the position they are in due to Cormack.

I don’t think many are suggesting we should be coasting in third. However, The fact that we held on to third for such a long time, shows how shite the standard is. Ironically, a good manager would have us coasting in third 😂

Goodwin’s setup including his tactics, subs, stubbornness etc are the issue.

it’s a waste of time to give him another window and a waste of money.

  8. I’d get him punted now.

The Celtic set up at home was unforgivable.

The changes he made and set up in the last 15 mins resulted in the rangers defeat.

Now this. An inability to drop people who are not performing and freshen the team in the right way to beat Kilmarnock.

He’s been backed massively and I’ve given him enough of a chance with this team to realise that backing him again in January is a waste, and an opportunity that another manager should get.

  9. Previously, I lived in Australia for years and used to go and watch the Newcastle Jets.

I also once went and watch Australia v Turkey in Sydney. One of the most intimidating atmospheres I’ve ever seen in a football stadium. The Turks were properly nasty, over 50% of the crowd were Turkish fans and many of them were looking for a fight. The Aussies were well behaved, from what I saw, on that night.
Now before I say any more, I’m not racist in any shape or form and it’s what I observed as a neutral during my time there.  A huge issue that the A-League has, that is still there from the days of the old NSL, is that many of the teams in the league are supported by crowds from various countries and also countries that were previously one country and have now been split up.
This, is mainly in reference to the Sydney and Melbourne teams and a large portion of their fans come from a origins of Greek, Turkish, Yugoslav backgrounds and like the Huns and Tims, there’s more than football rivalry fueling them. It’s why there was rioting at the tennis years ago. The A-League know this is an issue but they’ve refused to do anything about it for years, because it brings in money…sound familiar.

All very interesting really. Victory have one of the most active supports in the league, and the league runners have decided to host the grand finals in Sydney for 3 years straight. Whole purpose of the finals was that you got the chance to host the final game. It’s United all fans against the league which is actually quite impressive. Surprised they let it get out of hand though. Probably the most international press the a league has ever had 😂

So if that’s right, then protest. Fine.

there’s a massive difference between protesting though and invading the field and smashing a flare bucket into the face of someone who has done absolutely nothing wrong.

  11. Goodwin absolutely got the tactics wrong in the last 15mins.

he took players off on mass that had given us an outlet to get the ball up the field. Once that was gone, we just invited rangers on to us. They kept coming, we kept giving them the ball back because Goodwin had made the wrong choices with both his subs and his use of them. As a result of that the team couldn’t deal with the pressure and the relentless onslaught of rangers and we got beaten. It’s that simple. Forget the fact it was in the last few minutes. It was a matter of time and could easily have happened in the 85 and 87 minute.
He chose to put Morris on, not besuijen, a lad that he knew wouldn’t have the footballing intelligence to run the ball into the corner and keep it, instead of giving rangers the ball back.
The team defended well for 20 mins. But there was no one to carry us up the field. Roos made some good saves, stewart cleared a lot of balls and others harried and chased but, it was all in our final third, and a matter of time before they broke through. Once the second went in, I could see the 3rd coming.
When a team can’t get the ball up up the park and keep it in the oppositions half for periods to help stem the bleeding, there’s only ever going to be one outcome, and if that’s not the fault of Goodwin for his terrible plan and lack of foresight, then I don’t know what is. The one person he brought on that could have helped us was Hayes as he has an engine, can carry the ball and knows game management but instead Goodwin deployed him sitting deep and just exasperated the situation.
That loss lies firmly at the door of Goodwin. No one else.

I have never been so dejected, leaving Pittodrie as I was on Tuesday night.

  12. Seabass man, chill out and breathe.

We’ve got a new squad and new manager. It was always destined to be a bumpy ride. But we’re third in the league. It’s not all doom and gloom.

Derek and Doc had run their course. Things had gone stale and despite the first half of their tenure being good, the second half was poor so, it was time for change.
Perhaps take a wee break dude, enjoy the World Cup and festive period and come back in the new year and eager dandy 👍

Aye I thought rama was really good today and agree that's the best place to play him.  Vinny and kennedy did just fine, Kennedy had a really good first half i thought.  Not sure who you would drop to bring scales back in if you were to keep that system 🤔

Overall, bar fucking Morris who massively needs to have a word with himself, we didn't have a bad performance from anyone really.  I really hope we can get Coulson on a permanent deal, he's easily the best lb since Lowe and possibly since Robertson though that remains to be seen.  Watkins deserves credit, first half in particular he was excellent and involved in pretty much everything we did well going forward.

It's never a bad thing to be scoring well.

I really hope we can get Coulson on a permanent deal too but I can’t see that happening. He is a properly good footballer, with great balance and quick feet. Provided he doesn’t get a bad injury, he’ll go on to play at a bigger club and higher level than Aberdeen.
