  1. I've just recently joined so don't know much about the history, but like a lot of other similar forums, depending on how active it is and how it accepts and/or encourages new posters, it can get to be sterile with the emphasis being on the predominant majority view. As it is a supporters forum it is natural that as numbers dwindle then the "hard-core" posters will tend to dominate.

While it's good to know that there is a solid, although probably smaller base of loyal support that continues to promote the cause unquestioningly , there is also a much larger number that have just got out of the habit, being disillusioned almost to the point of no return. When and if they come back then livelier discussion may be re-generated.

In the meantime there isn't anything to be gained by slagged each other off when a sceptical, more questioning view is put forward. After all we are all here because fundamentally we are Dons supporters. I'm not saying that we should all be agreeing but we should be slagging off the opposition, not each other.

I admire your naivety and enthusiasm. You are correct, of course.

    :)

  2. "To get in the team I am having to play pretty much as well as I can"

An admission that players feel able to get into the Dons side whilst 'cruising'?

Surely he should be trying to "play pretty much as well as I can" no matter who or where he is playing?!?

Strange thing to say, for me... I will still welcome him back if it happens. He'd certainly be one of our better players now...

  3. Have heard from a source who knows a current squad member (who hasn't had much playing time over the last 18 months) and apparently the 'Christmas come early' quote at least is true.

Also said that no-one at Pittodrie had a good word to say about Magoo. His attitude towards players/players’ families and office/stadium staff was very poor and there will be no tears shed.

If he had brought us any sort of success he probably would have been excused, but to be both crap and (allegedly!) an arrogant prick is not a good combination!

  4. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3229286/McGhees-our-man.html

Interesting quote: 'The manager and coaching team have to play a system that everyone understands. We must become solid at the back and begin to create chances.'

Bit of a dig at McGhee's management style there, is there not!?

Not saying it's undeserved, but why say it in the meedja - and in an article purporting to back McGhee?

Odd, or am I just being over-sensitive on Mr Magoo's behalf?

    :-\

(Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere)

  5. I am actually quite happy with this decision.

Give Magoo a few more weeks and it if it's still going Pete Tong, he gets the bullet then (or preferably walks away - the only way for him to retain a shred of dignity in that scenario).

Why spunk away £400K now, when the best we can reasonably hope for this season is mid-table mediocrity anyway?

Even Magoo is capable of taking us there... surely?!?!

No manager is going to get this mob higher than Hearts/United/Motherwell, in what remains of this season, are they?

Would love to see some sort of miracle turn around over the coming weeks, but rather suspect we will have a new management team by January!

    :-\

  6. No - yer correct. That's my prediction for how the draw will go... thought that would have been obvious to any real fans

I would be happy if it comes true. Not sure if I will go, whoever we draw and whenever it is played. No been to a match all season... wouldn't want to start glory-hunting now...

Still hurting from QOS and United the other season!

    :-\

  7. Bunch of wanks the lot of them.

Anyone who is professionally in the public eye and who has a facebook/bebo/'whatever-the-cool-kids-are-using' page, on which they spout their own actual personal drivel, is a total muppet.

It should be part of their contract that they don't post pish on public internet forums. End of. That is our job, after all!

I really didn't think I could get any more disillusioned with the current/former crop of Aberdeen fuckwits... If any of them was anything more than almost mediocre as a player you might almost be willing to overlook it; but to be overpaid and underperforming on a weekly basis and still be coming out with total arsehole-ish comments about the OF/religion is just beyond the pale.

They must know that people will see these messages?!?! Does Zander honestly think that ingratiating himself with a bunch of neanderthal 'football fans' is really going to do his career or personal life any good. He was once a promising prospect. He is now a flop. He only still plays for us because the rest of our squad is equally poor. Celtic are not about to come knocking on his door just because he is giving it 'FTQ. Lolzers!' on fucking facebook.

Fuck the fucking queen if you want to and the fucking pope as well, while you are in the fucking mood - but, most of all, fuck the fucking OF and their knuckle-dragging fan base. If you are being paid by the fans of a non-OF club, please keep your OF prejudices to yourself for the duration. Otherwise - piss off and play for the OF reserves or in League 2.

    Cunts.  :hammer:

  8. AFC get to fuck!!!

What a fucking disgraceful shower of useless cunts.

And McGhee is the worst of them.

Knee-jerk or not, I would be happy to hear that he had left Pittodrie in a car-boot never to return.

He doesn't know his best team, he doesn't know his players' best positions, he doesn't know how to motivate them. He must go.

    I am serious.

    >:(

  9. Cautious optimism.

I don't think we'll really know if we've turned a corner until our first defeat or poor result, and the reaction to it in the subsequent game.

So we will know a week on Saturday then?  ;D

I am completely lacking in optimism, in case that didn't give it away...

    :-\

  10. I don't understand where the Lee Miller myth originated from.

Aye, he looks the part - but he is a lazy, arrogant, poseur with no pace, few goals and much less talent than he is credited with.

We missed him when he left, but only because we were (are?) absolutely shite and our players had no clue how to compensate for the lack of a tall striker to lump balls towards. So they just lumped balls to no one or passed the ball from side to side until losing possession...

Did I mention I am really looking forward to the start of the season? :)
