  1. I understand what you are saying - but you can hardly argue that any of our defenders have done anything to deserve a place in the side in any of the games this season.

He clearly has no faith in any of our defenders and doesn't know who his best 4 are.

And yes, I agree - sacking Jimmy would be bad financially.

  2. I'm not sure it's all down to Jimmy - yes, he bought the players - but if they don't perform....

In the first half it seemed like chance after chance and no friggin dons player could finish - not sure what jimmy can do about that.

Realistically who would we get in?

there is a /very/ outside chance of McGhee - but certainly not until Well are out of Europe.

Don't think many others would touch us with a barge pole - oh except to "save" money Milne and Miler would appoint Sandy Clarke.

  3. back on topic...

Jimmys major problem is his inability to build any rapport with the aberdeen fans which stems from his handling of the local press and his constant slagging of the fans and the players in the press. Its to late to fix that and he will be gone once the club go on a sustained bad run of form.Miller and Milne should be looking at the crowds this season because its looking worse than last season and the only option they have is to replace the manager (or give him money to buy some quality but that aint going to happen).

The bit in quotes is the way to go - more money on the playing staff - that is the solution.

I don't think we have a decent team at all - yes they could be more motivated than they are - would they sustain european position form - no - they aren't good enough.

  4. Is that not what Romanov was going to do?

Aberdeen FC simply doesn't have the supporter base to get investment to even a fraction of the degree you are talking about.  On top of that we are faced with the OF who will occupy the top2 places 9 times out of 10, regardless.

In any case I wouldn't want some faceless foreign millionaire to come and use afc as his play thing for a few years until he gets bored.  Although afc is a small club in european terms we are a big enough club in Scottish terms to believe that if we are run well we should be challenging for europe and cups every year.  No doubt this is an unrealistic expectation on my part, but if the club really don't share these ambitions then the gradual drift of support away from Pittodrie will turn into a tidal wave.

Romanov is small fish compared to the arabs, and the proper russians investing in the EPL.

As for the supporters base argument, even if Man City fill eastlands, they aren't going to pay the wages of robinho each week, never mind the new recruits that will come in in january - so clearly these investors aren't worried about how many people actually turn up - but they will turn up en masse, as the product on show will be good.

It's your opinion that you don't want a faceless billionaire in, but I have a feeling AFC is going to the wall under Milne.

No stadium, no players worth talking about, soon, no support going to games.

He *has* to go - I'd at least like someone else to have a go at "rescuing" the club before we do go out of business.

And we can all apply the "we need to run a good financial ship to survive" charge - but if we don't have a team worth watching - we'll soon be playing in the highland league albeit with a "good" financial footing.

  5. I think we struggle to find investment because Scottish football is sadly a second rate league at present. The Premiership is the best league in the world, Spain, Italy, Germany..... where exactly do we come in? The EPL clubs make so much TV money, the glamourous games etc., attracts the best players in the world, as do the big European leagues.

I don't think you'll find someone willing to pay Milne at least 15 million to buy the club and get it debt free, then have to build a stadium. That's a huge initial investment and how does the club rake back those millions. I don't know how much profit the Old Firm make (Rangers are debt ridden, I think Celtic make 3-4 million profit a year and that is with a 60,000 stadium.)

I just don't see how a major investor sees Aberdeen as a good financial decision at present. Very sad, but maybe true???

I don't see that the big investors in English football just now are trying to make a profit, so I don't think the fact that it's not a great financial decision affects the argument.

  6. I'm sorry, but I just cannot understand the "no-one would buy the club" argument.

Anyone with any business sense could see that one of these "fat-harry's" from around the world could buy AFC, and with investment the size of that Man City will spend on one player in January, could prob. get into the champions league on a regular basis.

You only have to outspend the old firm to secure a champions league qualifier - that's a far more attractive proposition than trying to make Man City or Pompey, et al break the top 4 in England.

Might not be the fashionable league, but you could certainly make your mark on europe.

  7. Utterly depressed - what a woeful game.

The players need a kick up the *rse. Whatever people say about Jimmy, we played a standard 4-4-2 today.

Supposedly, with pacey wingers/fullbacks and 2 target men in the middle - and we were rubbish.

Should have switched Aluko or Maguire in to the centre to give Wilkie some pace to think about, totally devoid of any cutting edge.

I think Jimmy will get another couple of weeks, but if Well go out of Europe we should be tapping up McGhee straight away.
