  1. Anyone thinking of coming down the Wednesday night before the match for a night out then you may need to limit your expectations Although there are a lot of decent pubs in Burnley selling ale, most will cost at 11 on a Wednesday night. I imagine that will stretch the Thursday night though and should be a decent night out. If you are wanting a big night out Wednesday you may be better off stopping in Manchester which is less than an hour away on the bus or train. If you want to stay somewhere more rural, the ribble valley is on Burnley’s doorstep and has some beautiful walks and stunning scenery. However I am aware I am trying to sell ice to the eskimos on that front
  2. Yes we are the best suppprted club in England per head of population. Just over 70k live in Burnley and we regular sell out the 22.5k seats at turf Moor. In terms of preferring the football with or without the money, it’s difficult for me to say as in my life time (I’m 30) I have only ever known burnley in the prem with money, or in the lower leagues skint My first season watching burnley was 91/92. We were in the 4th div. gradually, with several ups and downs I have seen us now rise to a fantastic position. There are things I don’t like about the prem and in many ways I prefer lower league football. The football in the prem is fantastic and it’s great to see world class players, however away games are not as fun. I used to love going to places like Colchester and taking over 3 sides of the ground (burnley always travel well). It’s all a bit cooperate in the prem. Fortunately burnley have tried to stick to their roots. I only pay 300 quid for my season ticket. I sit in an old wooden stand which has great atmosphere, far better than the boring bowls that the likes of Southampton and Leicester have
  3. Baggy you have listed a load of players who have done well in Scotland and therefore moved south. Many decent SPL player end in the championship, they move for the money and the standard of football. It’s only my opinion that the SPL is akin to the championship and I am not saying I am right. It’s not an uncommon opinion. Money does make the standard of football better because that what all the decent players want.
  4. Calm down I’m only giving an option about the standard of Scottish football. Many Scots also believe Celtic are championship standard. There isnt a world class player in the SPL like the 90s. Many decent Celtic/rangers have tried and failed to make it in the prem. most of the lads playing for Celtic have either never played about SPL level or have failed in the prem and moved up north. It’s not worth getting stressed about, the standard is far less. A lot of the SPL wouldn’t cope in league one. That being said, Aberdeen are clearly a decent outfit and although won’t be favourites they will be up for it and a difficult opponent
  5. Burnley fan in peace. Initially I was a bit gutted with this draw. Not played in Europe in my lifetime and what I wanted was a chance to get my flip flops on and go somewhere with a bit of sun with the lads. I’ve got a young family and don’t get the chance to go abroad with the lads anymore but this was a free pass stipulated in the Prenump. I am also gutted because this is one of the hardest fixtures we are likely to face in a first qualifying round. I have come around to the idea now though. From what I have heard Aberdeen is a decent city with a lot going on. I think we should expect to beat you lot over the tie but Dyche has a history of not taking cup games seriously. In recent years we have got beat to Accrington Stanley and Lincoln in the cup. I suspect Dyche will take this cup more seriously as it’s a good chance for him to improve his CV. We are a tough team for any team to beat and Dyche has built our success on hard graft. As for visiting Burnley, like most industrial northern towns Burnley isn’t the prettiest of places but the citizens are hard working, no nonsense, decent people. Low Beer prices in Burnley are probably the cheapest in the country. You can get a decent pint of ale for £1.80 in some pubs/workingmens. A few chain hotels to stay in and the place isn’t big so most are walking distance to the stadium. Should be a good game
