Aberdeen are heading to the Republic of Ireland and Holland for their preseason build-up in the summer.

Manager Jimmy Calderwood is in Dublin today finalising details of a possible six day trip to the Emerald Isle in July. The Dons have two options open to them.

They could remain the Irish capital and play friendlies against two Dublin sides. They are also looking into the possibility of playing Galway United and Glentoran.

Calderwood said: "A lot will depend on the quality of the training facilities." The Dons will them head for Holland for 10 days from July 23, where they will play at least two more friendly matches.

It is understood Manchester United have also been approached to play a g lamour friendly at Pittodrie to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Aberdeen's European Cup Winners' Cup triumph.

Is that why nobody visits us pre-season?

Told as a possible back up to Man Utd saying no and going on a far east tour, that Birmingham have been approached aswell.

No Inter Toto cup then?

K9 you thinking about taking in any of the games. Ireland appeals if they are Saturday matches. Not so sure about Holland. Depends on the opposition.

Nae sure dude.  Thinking about a sun holiday instead as the bother factor is reducing all the time.  Maybe a weekend trip aswell though.

Waste of a pre season. As much as I enjoy seeing the dons at home in Holland, it could be so much more constructive. I still think we should enter, if we can, for the inter-toto.

Irish beer or Dutch beer. Hmmm :-\

Agree with you on the Inter Toto. IMO more benefit to be gained from playing competitive matches than friendlies. Also Inter toto is more likely throw up trip to somewhere off the beaten track.

Delightful news, the week before we're going to Holland i'll be in Dublin anyway!

6 days to our season deciding match, and Tango is off in Ireland on pre-season planning. Sorry, but that's some fucked up priorities the man has there.

I think this pre season trip sounds a better idea than previous seasons debacles.

Woo hoo!! Ireland for winners!
