Going to game from centre of Glasgow

Any advice about going from centre of Glasgow to Hampden with my wife and son?

Get a taxi

Trains go from Central to King's Park but they will be crammed full of  pissed up sevconians who care not a jot you are there with your wife and son.

It is walkable but quite a way out from the city centre around 2 miles or so and the direct route would take you in past the sevconian end.

Thanks for the advice. Had assumed that Sevconians would be going to Mount Florida. Taxi might be a good option.

In my experience there is segregation at Central station with Dons fans put onto trains for Kings Park and the Blue meanies put on trains to Mount Florida.

If you get a taxi chances are you will get dropped off at the mount florida (sevco end) and have to walk through them so if you do choose that method ask the driver to take you to the toryglen side of Hampden.

Getting back I would go for the Kings park train back to Hampden as taxis, buses etc will be in gridlock

We sometimes got the train to Crossmyloof then walk from Shawlands after a few bevvies in a civilised boozer. Other times we went to the heart of the beast and just see what happens. With a wife and kid at a game like this, you'll be safe enough however you get there.

Another route (and a good way to skip the queues at central) is to get the low level train to Rutherglen. Maybe a 20 minute walk from there.

Edit: Actually just googled it and it's more like 30-35 mins walk. But it is at least at the East/Aberdeen side of Hampden, and won't be many people queuing for it. We do it all the time for Scotland games to beat the long queues at central.
