Aberdeen non-executive director Duncan Skinner has been issued with a notice of complaint over a betting breach.
Skinner is alleged to have placed 589 bets on 1,465 games since the 2014-15 season with 81 of them involving Aberdeen.
He placed 74 bets on Aberdeen to win, six on a draw and one on the Dons to lose.
Sky sources understand that game he bet on Aberdeen to lose was against Celtic on February 1, 2017.
There are no suggestions of any match-fixing allegation involved in the case and Aberdeen are conducting their own internal investigation.
A club statement read: "The club is obviously aware of the citation and, along with Duncan, is co-operating fully with the SFA, in addition to conducting its own internal review.
"As this is a live case, we will not be commenting further at this point."
Skinner has until January 3 to respond to the notice complaint, with his judicial hearing scheduled for January 11.
The possible sanctions are a fine between £1,000-£1,000,000 and/or suspension.
