I was thinking about our debacle against Sigma Olomouc the other day and how things have changed in terms of our European progress especially since Daugava Riga July 2014.  Looking at that squad from 2009/10 I'm not sure any member would make Derek's team today.  Maybe Charlie Mulgrew, Chris Maguire, Lee Miller, or Sone Aluko at an absolute push.

The others would be fringe at best. Although sone mk1 was epic. That was a an era before the one you mention so even then I'd pass. Mind you the manager,  and I use the term very loosely probably had a lot to answer for in his diminished form. God I hate That prick.

Id have Mulgrew in before Reynolds. And Lee Miller before Rooney...offers far more all round and would definitely score more than he did with the current team giving him a far better supply. Cwith would be a decent bench option.

Maguire was pish - guilty of believing his own hype.

 

I quite liked Lee Miller but I wouldn't have him in over Rooney. For Lee Miller's talent, we hardly ever saw it as he wasn't a grafter.

Agreed but then he wouldn't be at the dons. I liked him, but doubt I'd have him over Rooney. One thing though, his hold up play was great which isn't Rooney's forte.

Those were bad times! I had almost wiped them from memory. There was some real shite in that team. Considine, Mulgrew and Miller really were about the only ones worth a mention. Pawlett was still a loon, and Maguire was loving himself a wee bit too much. Although, there was a player in there somewhere.

I would have Mulgrew and Miller. I think Deek would have got them both playing consistently well. Rooney is certainly a better goalscorer but Miller was a clever player who would suit our current play well.
