On Monday 6th April we launched a survey for supporters to gauge the level of interest in improving the atmosphere at Pittodrie. Just over 2200 supporters completed the survey so thank you to everyone who took the time to give us their feedback.

It did not take too long for us to find some very obvious trends when analysing the results which we are pleased to be able to share with you now.

Key Findings:

- 90% of respondents said that they would like to see a designated area of the stadium set aside as a singing section.

- 61% of respondents said that they would be interested in sitting in an area of the ground designated as a singing section.

- Two thirds of the respondents who indicated that they would be willing to sit in a singing section prefer to sit in the South Stand on a matchday.

The findings from the survey, along with the backing that the team has received from the unofficial singing section in the Richard Donald Upper, has shown us there is a real need to create something more permanent for next season.

The support shown by the unofficial singing section has undoubtedly improved the atmosphere over the past three matches and it is this type of vocal support of the team that we want to encourage next season.

As a result of all of the above we're pleased to reveal the Club will be introducing a singing section in Section X of the South Stand for the 2015/16 season. We believe that Section X is ideally situated due to its proximity to the pitch, the fact it is covered and also that it's in a highly populated area of the stadium.

The removal of the segregation fence between sections T & V in the South Stand will also bring supporters closer together next season and we hope that this will make it easier for the vocal support created by Section X to spread throughout the stadium.

Season ticket information for 2015/16 will be announced shortly and we would encourage all supporters who wish to get involved to snap up season tickets in this section.

Every supporter that currently holds a season ticket in Section X will be notified of our intentions and offered alternative seating for next season should they not wish to sit in the singing section. If a supporter cannot find a suitable alternative during the renewal period we will give you priority on our moving seat day on 16th June before all seats are released for general sale on 17th June.

One further key finding from the survey is the clear desire from supporters to see card displays at Pittodrie. We acknowledge this is something you feel passionately about and we are aiming to work with supporters ahead of the final league match of the season against St Johnstone to facilitate a display with a view to a more permanent solution ahead of next season.

The Club intends to hold a fans forum event with those supporters who express an interest in sitting within this singing section. This will be held ahead of next season as we begin our preparations for the 2015-2016 campaign. Further details will be announced in due course.

The Club is committed to helping our supporters make Pittodrie a fortress once again. We want to improve the match-day experience for our valued fans and ultimately deliver the backing the manager and his team richly deserve.

Wonder how much will come of all this, certainly the right noises being made.

It appears to be some form of positive progress.  It'll no doubt not go far enough for some but it's a start and if they can make it work, it can grow from there.

It's good that they've accepted the improvement generated in atmosphere by the loons in the RDU in recent weeks.

An olive branch at least?
