glasgow sheep
Hot on the heals of the glass box planned for Triple Kirks and the glass box to replace the glass box they pulled down that was St Nick house, to yet again hide the horrific Provost Skene's House from public view, they have given permission for this exciting and innovative design at what was the Capitol
manc_don
At least they put some clouds in the rendering to make it slightly realistic. Other than that, oohhh another open plan glass box. Funny how it will probably have it's facade cluttered by window blinds.

I do wonder what is going to happen to the listed historic Wurlitzer organ from the old theatre that Jumping jacks were meant to restore and reinstall in their club but seemingly went missing

CtS
and at least it's not another bookies. What are the odds on this ever being built?
Edinburghdon
What are the odds on this ever being built? Pretty high, if its the development I've assumed it is. I live close by and we got a letter informing us of the plans and the potential disruption.
Kowalski
http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/3436950 ABERDEEN is in line for a massive new concert and conference venue, the Evening Express can reveal today.Council chiefs are looking to spend more than £200 million on the replacement for the AECC. Finance convener Councillor Willie Young said the arena could replace the existing one at the Bridge of Don. However, he also confirmed that the facility – which will include a four-star hotel – could be sited elsewhere. It’s understood that the only other option on the table is a site near Aberdeen International Airport in Dyce. Cllr Young said: “You’re going to get a new AECC that will be bigger and better.” Yep because the transport infrastructure in Dyce is fantastic. Who voted for these utter clowns? Fucking useless tossers.

Kowalski
Trams could return to the streets of Aberdeen under proposals revealed by the city council. A strategic infrastructure plan to come before councillors next week includes the possibility of reintroducing some kind of tram or light rail system. It suggests approaching the Scottish government to carry out a feasibility study. The opposition SNP group has described it as "pie in the sky". However the council leader, Labour's Barney Crockett, said it was something that could be considered.

mizer
THESE are the first images of how a new exhibition and conference centre for Aberdeen could look. The stunning £185 million facility has been earmarked for Dyce after city councillors backed plans to shift its home from Bridge of Don. Henry Boot Developments was selected by councillors as the preferred development partner after three bids were put on the table. The site earmarked is Rowett North, which is currently owned by the University of Aberdeen. The development will comprise a mixed-use development which will include greater exhibition and conference space and a four-star hotel. Nellie The Don
Truly dismal stuff. Local councils throughout Scotland are treated as chew-toys and vanity projects for politicians who are either trying to or have failed to rise within their parties. Kowalski
A NEW leader is set to take over of Aberdeen City Council today after Cllr Barney Crockett was ousted from power. It's understood Jenny Laing will take over after she won the approval of Labour colleagues at a meeting last night. She is expected to be officially appointed as leader of the Labour-Tory-Independent administration when full council meets tomorrow. Cllr Crockett led his party to power in May 2012. The city has undergone huge development in that time, with major business parks springing up and a move to create a new civic square on Broad Street. However, the administration has also faced criticism.
