Falcao set to sign for Monaco for £51m

Radamel Falcao is set to have a medical with Monaco on Monday before moving to the Ligue 1 club for €60m (£51m), according to reports in Spain.

The Colombia striker has long been linked with a move away from Atlético Madrid, with Manchester United and Chelsea mooted as possible destinations.

However, it appears that Monaco have jumped to the head of the queue, with the newly promoted team having already recruited the highly-rated Porto pair Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez for a combined fee of around £60m.

Monaco's president, Dmitry Rybolovlev, is highly ambitious, evidenced by his capture of the Porto pair, who are former team-mates of Falcao who has scored 32 goals in 36 appearances this season.

What's the point? Its the French league ffs. Its shit.

Just fucking mental.......

And to think they could have had Big Josh on a Bosman ;)

That's 10 million euros more than Barcelona got Neymar for  :o

falcao's near enough the best striker in the world so other that the money in football generally being disgusting it's not ridiculous money compared with other transfers. plus monaco have a lot of pride to restore, and need a guy like falcao if they're going to compete with psg.

Were Monaco not in the second division, season just finished

aye, just won it

Set to sign Victor Valdes as well.

I dare say they're aiming for more than just the league title.

Quite happy about this. Gets it right up Man City and Chelsea.

Would not have thought signings by Monaco will mean they meet the UEFA financial fair play rule any time soon.

There'll be a way round it, like Citeh's ridiculous stadium naming deal.
