Boss Brown moves for Johnson

MANAGER Craig Brown today warned American striker Eddie Johnson he will have to accept a short-term deal if he wants a contract with Aberdeen FC.

 

Brown was set to hold talks with USA international hitman Johnson as he bids to sign a goal grabber before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday.

 

The 27-year-old is a free agent after being released by Fulham in the summer and failing to get fixed up with another club in his homeland.

On August 16, 2011, it was revealed that Eddie Johnson had signed a contract with Major League Soccer and would be allocated to a certain club through an allocation process. Presently, the first team on the allocation process is Chivas USA. The announcement on what team selects him will be revealed on August 18. However on August 17th it was reported that contract negotiations have stalled and Johnson may still be looking abroad for better offers.[19]

In all 28 app last season, 12 with Fulham and 16 with Preston with no goals scored 

why "must" he have a short-term contract? there's going to be a helluva lot of player turnover next summer!

I remember seeing him play for the states a couple of times and thought he looked a player.

I do remember him looking like a decent player though.

One player unlikely to come in is American striker Eddie Johnson who is at Fulham. Newspaper reports this morning linked the Dons with him. "His agent has been trying to get us to sign Eddie Johnson. I have never mentioned him but his agent has mentioned him to me.

I saw him play when he was in MLS and never really rated him. Looked a lot like a slightly more skillful Mackie.

Contradicts what Brown himself said a couple of days ago about this particular player and what they said on the radio earlier but heres hoping this means we are still looking for players.
