Sale of Rangers FC 'will go ahead by mid-January'

Published Date: 05 December 2010

By Tom English

A DEAL to sell Rangers Football Club to Scots venture capitalist Craig Whyte will go though by the middle of January, according to senior sources at the club.

Whyte, 39, met with Ibrox chairman Alastair Johnston in Glasgow to discuss the purchase of Sir David Murray's shareholding in the club.

The proposed £33 million deal will wipe out the existing debt that has stymied Rangers in the transfer market for two years.

Yesterday, sources at Rangers said the deal, barring any late hitches, could be completed before Christmas but it is more likely that it will be done by the middle of January. "We can't say with 100 per cent certainty, but Whyte has the money and is very convincing. We think the deal will happen," said the source.

Murray has presided over Rangers for 22 years but has been keen to sell his stake for some time.

Hopefully the debt thing is not true as that is what is holding them back at the moment.

The SPFL have changed the rules so Rangers can play their pre-season signings as trialist before the 1st of Sept ban ends....

The "welovethehunPFL" already?

Was always the case that they could play two of them as trialists in each match played before the 1st of September. Transfer ban was always a joke once they allowed them to sign as many as they wanted in before the ban and did not run the registration ban through to the 01 January 2014.

The thing with that article is everyone already knows all that, it's the Huns that remain completely in denial about it.

Ricky Foster, Craig gordon and Andy Webster all pictured at Murray Park this evening.

All perma-cunted then, though Craig Gordon? Using training facilities/rehab? They've "signed" Bellend.

Foster is a fanny.

Gordon is there doing rehab but strange we was there at the same time as Foster and Kirk.

Richard Foster insists winning the Second Division with [The] Rangers will be just as big an achievement as helping them clinch the SPL title.

Will be? Try would be you presumptuous cunts! Also LOL!!!!

RANGERS’ finance chief Brian Stockbridge discussed selling £5million of shares in the club to a convicted fraudster on Interpol’s most wanted list.

Stockbridge is heard on tape talking to former Rangers owner Craig Whyte and the club’s axed commercial director Imran Ahmad about a possible cash injection from Rafat Rizvi, who is being pursued by police.

Interpol’s website carries a red notice international alert stating that Rizvi, 52, is wanted for “corruption, money laundering and banking crime” over his alleged role in the collapse of a bank in Indonesia.

The alert asks anyone with any information about his whereabouts or activities to contact police.

Rangers apparently taking in £1.1m a month and have wages of £1.5m

Let alone all their other costs......

Fat Sally apparently told in no uncertain terms to sell (or just not pay creditors) before The Filth can sign anyone else.

They released another 400,000 shares yesterday to "help live within their own means" and managed to knock 1/6th off the value of the club

Saw a wee report but not been on the news as far as I have seen

Fair play, at the end of the day no-one died, and it caused a big inconvenience to the huns. Nice. Deserve it for wasting so much money on a bus.

So have the proved the fire was started by a firebomb attack on that particular bus?

Or was it one of the many that were destroyed in the blaze and the media saw an opportunity to spread this story out in the very slow footie news weeks in the lead up to the new season?

Seems that the fire was reported as simply a fire at a bus depot, until they found out the hun sty on wheels had been amongst it.

Haven't seen a report that states the huns bus was the target.

I don't know the exact circumstances but it looks like a premeditated attack on the Rangers bus"

Nothing like a bit of rabble rousing.

“It’s absolutely pathetic that someone would go to that extreme. I don’t know the exact circumstances but it looks like it’s been a premeditated attack on the Rangers team bus

Really, Ally? I'd say McCoist is prime suspect... heard there was a decent R*angers Coach about and thought he was going to get sacked....
