I was just thinking about who would come in to compliment Lee Hendrie if the man eventually signs.  I see Nicky Butt has been released by The Toon.  No spring chicken anymore but if wages weren`t an issue couldn`t he be like a "David James" if one goes to Celtic.  A short term fix until somebody more suitable comes along?

I'd love Nicky Butt to play for us but that's just never going to happen SeeBass.

No chance. We can't compete with most teams in league 1 or 2 there is no way we could match the wages of a player who has just been released from a club promoted to the premier league. Its a shame, i'd love to see him turn out for us.

Agreed - no point in even trying to sign him, we'd just make an arse of it.

Some of my fellow Dandies seem to think he`s too slow to really make an impact now.  However what with Yoann Folly signed it would seem a non starter anyway.  I was just trying to show a bit of outside the box thinking with my suggestion in the first place.  Afterall Hartley can`t be that far off 35 himself! 

 

His age isn't the issue. As good a player as Hartley would be for us if he signed, he has never had the class of Nicky Butt, ergo, doesn't command wages that are even remotely close to what Butt can earn.
