Bah, statistics and miniskirts. It's not a six-game season. What really counts is the fact that we've still got a 10 point gap on the currently-bottom team.

Actually, 2 points out of a possible 18 isn't that bad when you look at our recent fixtures. I mean, yeah, we haven't won a single game in our last ten competitive matches, 8 of which were league and 2 of which were cup games.

Let's look at them.

30 Jan: League: Home game v Motherwell.  Beaten 0-3.  Motherwell.. good side.

2 Feb:  League: Home game v Falkirk. Beaten 0-1.  A very creditable result for Aberdeen against a team desperate to beat relegation.

6 Feb: SC: Away game v Raith. Drew 1-1. An away draw with a very reasonable 1st Division Raith Rovers.

10 Feb: League: Away game v Hibs. Drew 2-2. An outstanding result against a team of all-stars.

13 Feb: League: Home game v Celtic. Drew 4-4. Unimaginable draw against the eventual 2nd place team.

16 Feb: SC: Home game v Raith. Lost 0-1. A marvelous run of draws comes to an end at the hands of a very reasonable 1st Division Raith Rovers.

20 Feb: League. Away game v Falkirk. Lost 1-3. A decent result against a Falkirk team desperate to escape relegation.

27 Feb: League: Home game v Hearts. Lost 0-1. A decent result.

6 March: League: Away game v Hamilton Drew 1-1. Reasonable result against a side fighting to escape relegation.

16 March: League Away game v St Johnstone. lost 0-1. Acceptable result against a team above us in the league.

With our next two games against Dundee United and Rangers we could, with a bit of luck, keep the goals against down to a reasonable level.

So in the last 10 games we've picked up no less than 3 points out of a possible 24, and been put out of the cup over two legs by Raith Rovers.

By the time the St Mirren game comes around I'd expect that to be 3 points out of a possible 30.

That's actually not all that bad, really.  If we can pick up another 3 points in the post split we should be just about safe from relegation.... or maybe not.

So you see it's not all that bad.

Kelt, I love yer glass-half-full attitude. At least someone has something to smile about at Aberdeen :-)
