To ensure the substantial amount of work being done regarding the Pittodrie playing surface is recognised and that the Club has undertaken proper procedures as far as pitch maintenance is concerned, the Club commissioned independent consultant to review the work.

This work confirmed the surface is stable although the foliage had been destroyed due the severe frost and the club had taken all appropriate steps with regards to the integrity of the surface. Last Friday the club received a visit from Bill Gillespie, a consultant who has reviewed pitches independently for the SPL and he endorsed the work carried out on the pitch.

The groundstaff have been working round the clock in recent weeks with Head Groundsman Paul Fiske, a top three finisher in each of the last two IOG SPL Groundsman of the Year competitions, putting in a great deal of time and energy to ensure the integrity of the playing surface.

The surface is currently under cover and it is anticipated it will be back to its best by the time of the league split next month.
