Talk of relegation is ludicrous

http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1620660?UserKey=

FURIOUS Aberdeen FC boss Mark McGhee today blasted any suggestions his side are in a relegation scrap.

Last weekend’s SPL loss to rock-bottom Falkirk left Aberdeen FC nine points off the foot of the table and led to claims they have been dragged into a survival fight.

Aberdeen FC tackle Hearts in a noon kick-off at Pittodrie on Saturday and McGhee wants his players to win all three points to end any talk of the dreaded drop.

When asked if Aberdeen now have to worry about being relegated this season, a defiant McGhee hit back. He said: “No, it’s a totally ludicrous suggestion.â€

Currently sitting 5 points behind hearts with a game in hand. Only 9 points off the bottom.

Aberdeen 29

St Johnstone 27

Kilmarnock 26

St Mirren 22

Hamilton 21

Falkirk 20

At the moment relegation has to be between one of the bottom three, but please fuck lets hope we dont get drawn in with our gutless wonders.

Got to agree with McGhee.

Also agree with McGhee.

Would like to agree with him but he needs to give me reasons to. We are too close to the wrong end of the table.

Not worrying yet. But if this slump continues it my be squeaky bum time.

Agree only because I think league is so pish that no way teams below us will win three more than us (in some cases win another 3 games) in the remaining 15 or so games not because I think we will enough games to pull away.

Let's hope we can get a result on Saturday and move it on from there

Thats the thing though - pretty much every time this season when we've played these so called 'shite' teams, they've invariably gotten the better of us - last weekend was a case in point.

End up in the bottom 6 with a margin of 9 points or less off bottom and anything can happen. Far from ludicrous.

And if it comes down to it, you just know our players wont have the balls.

That's my worry.

I think its ludicrous to deny it, why have your head in the sand about the situation? We are in a complete mess, the players have no fight about them unless its against a team that plays football. There are not many of those in the SPL. Whilst I hope that the rest of the league is just as pish as us and won't put a decent run together, to totally discount relegation is stupid.

I was going to say that I thought McGhee would have said "We could be in a relegation fight if results go against us this weekend", primarily because for most players this would give them the kick up the arse required.  Then I remembered what a shower of gutless cunts we have playing for us and also realised they wouldn't give a fuck as long as they still got paid at the end of the week.

9 points is only three games, the bottom 6 dogfight is tickling our collective arses. If that doesn't motivate the team I don't know what will. The boys should be able to beat hearts if things come together and they play the way we know they all can, but that's a fucking hoor of an if.

The board would love a relegation battle, could see us get a full house.

That's my concern, and agree with your subsequent point that the players we have don't seem to have the balls for a relegation fight.

Would it these days though??

Would it?

If it was in trouble I think you would find people worring and going. Just now it is sheer apathy.

Apparently a few days is a long time in football, as McGhee now acknowledges we are in a relegation battle.

At least he's got one thing right.

Now lost 7 home games and the season is not over. Last time we lost more than 6 at home was Patersons last season when we lost 11 and finished 2nd bottom.
