Diamond to get ankle surgery

Injury blow for Aberdeen FC’s Diamond

Aberdeen FC defender out for the season

ABERDEEN FC defender Zander Diamond’s season is over.

Aberdeen FC manager Jimmy Calderwood today confirmed Diamond will require surgery to the ankle injury aggravated during their 2-0 defeat by Celtic in Glasgow.

And it looks as if it’s going to be a triple whammy for Aberdeen FC, because it’s feared Jamie Smith and Derek Young could also sit out the rest of the campaign after suffering hamstring injuries.

Calderwood said: “It’s the same ankle problem that has been bothering Zander for some time.â€

There's such a tired inevitability about this that you have to imagine any slim chance of a new contract has now disappeared altogether.

Smith Must Go!

Good player when fit, but when is he ever actually 100% match fit?!

I think it's got to the point where even a pay as you play contract might be a waste of time - at the minute he's taking up a wage and a spot in the first team squad that could be better used elsewhere. It's no use to him or us coming back for a game or two or then doing his hamstring again. Cheerio.

Completely agree. Thanks, but goodbye

Lets face it no-one has an issue with smith as a player but enough is enough

He doesn't do that often enough!
