Matchday on DonsTalk just got a massive upgrade. We are thrilled to launch the DonsTalk Matchday Centre, a custom real-time scoreboard designed to keep the Red Army updated on every goasl, card, and VAR decision across Scotland, Europe and beyond.

What's New in the Matchday Centre

🔴 Red Hot Focus on Aberdeen FC

Aberdeen FC fixtures stand out immediately. Every Dons match card features distinct red styling, bold team typography and subtle glowing accent borders so you can pinpoint the Don's action at a glance.

📆 Day-by-Day Precision Fixture Tracking

Cluttered multi-day fixture lists are a thing of the past. The Matchday Centre isolates match data strictly day-by-day. Select any date, past, present or future - to view the exact fixtures, live updates or final scores. Use the Prev, Today and Next controls or the integrated calendar picker to jump directly to matchday.

Tailor your matchday view to your liking. Every competition group features an interactive accordion header, allowing you to collapse or expand leagues instantly. Your collapsed preferences are saved automatically across live page updates.

🥅 Goal Celebration Flips and Score Flashes

When a goal hits the back of the next, the match card triggers a goal notification flip, displaying an animated goal banner for the scoring team.

🟥🟨 Card Alerts

Disciplinary moments are highlighted with dynamic visual cues. When a yellow or red card is issued during live play, the entire fixture card transforms into a frosted glass panel, complete with translucent yellow or red gradients, backdrop blur, and glowing borders.

📺 Top Centre VAR Decisions

Stay informed on video reviews in real-time. Disallowed goals, penalty checks, and overturned decisions trigger a notification in the top centre of the fixture card with an orange flash.

📊 Live Match Stats, Scorers and Possession

Get the complete story behind every match score:

• Goal scorers: Player names and exact time stamps (including penalty and own-goal indicators).

• Discipline: Carded player names and time stamps

• Possession tracker: Dynamic live possession percentage bars

1️⃣ Live As-it-Stands Scottish Premiership League Table

As the season heats up, watch the live as-it-stands Scottish Premiership League Table. It automatically updates during matchday play. If a team scores, it will flash green and based on the current scores will move up and down the table.

⚡️ Smart dynamic polling

The Matchday Centre manages update rates intelligently:

• Live Mode: (15-second sync): Automatically kicks into high-frequency 15 second polling data starting 1 hour before kick-off and throughout live play.

• Idle Mode: (hourly sync): Reverts to an hourly refresh when no live matches are underway preserving browser speed and bandwidth.

We developed and designed the code for this, so if you have any suggestions for improvements - tell us!

We're continuing to update the Matchday Centre:

• The page will now not automatically push you to the top of the page when the results are refreshing.

• A Goal notification will appear in the top header banner for any team currently playing.

• The as-it-stands Scottish Premiership table text has been made slightly larger. After full time the table would temporarily revert to the previous table positions - UPDATE: this happens for 15 seconds after the live match has been played - we are still working on a fix.

Next updates:

• NEW: We've expanded the leagues available to include English League One and Two, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

• NEW: You can now filter to a specific league to only show the matches for that league.

• UPDATE: We've made some small visual changes to the cards to make in-match actions clearer.

• UPDATE: Goal notifications in the top header will queue if there multiple goals scored at the same time across live matches and will display in order of them being scored.

• UPDATE: Further optimised how the match centre displays on mobile devices.

• NEW: A full screen Goal notification will replace the top header when a goal is scored.

• UPDATE: The flip animatation for Team Stats has been removed to make it more reliable.

• NEW: Colours for each league/competition shows using the main brand colour for that league.

• ISSUE: Sometimes yellow card notifications won't always show the player information - we've updated the code, and monitoring performance.

v3 Update:

• UPDATE: The format for mobiles and small tablet screens will now show the full team name with the club crest above.

• NEW: The Eredivisie and Bundesliga leagues have been added.

• NEW: The number of corners have been added to Team Stats.

v4 Update:

• NEW: scrolling score ticker will appear at the top of the Matchday Centre when live matches are underway. It will only appear if there are more than 8 matches being played.

• UPDATE: The order of the leagues prioritise the Scottish leagues and cups when they are being played, followed then by the other leagues.

• UPDATE: If a club badge is not available, it will be replaced with a circle crest with the club initial in it.

v5 Update:

• NEW: You can now pin match cards as favourites and these will update and appear in a dedicated favourites section at the top of the Matchday Centre. Click the star icon in the top right of each match card to select or deselect it as a favourite.

v6 Update:

• NEW: Attendance figures will be shown on each match card, where this data is available.

• UPDATE: When yellow or red cards were added to a match card, it may have jumped to the match on the page. The match centre will now observe your position on the page.

• UPDATE: The Team Statistics in each match card now have Shots off target and Fouls committed data added.

• UPDATE: The Team Statistic button will change to "Tap for Team Stats" when the match reaches full time.

v7 Update:

• NEW: MLS matches have been added.

• UPDATE: Goal, yellow, red card, half time and full time score notifications have been added to the header - these will come up as a flash notifications on the header.

• UPDATE: The match ticker now doesn't jump when it is updating match information.

• UPDATE: The header notifications don't show if the device or browser wakes from sleep or the page is refreshed.
