Jute Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Just seen that Xavi Simons just been ruled out of World Cup with knee injury he picked up on Saturday. Thought would start this for noting anyone else who will be missing World Cup due to injury. 1 Quote

swaddon Posted yesterday at 19:49 Report Posted yesterday at 19:49 Who would have thought a team managed by him would be a bunch of hammer throwers? Quote
tlg1903 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Sickener. We might be well stocked in cm but gilmour defo brought something no-one else does and I think he would have been very handy to have against Morocco and Brazil. A lot of call online for Fletcher to take his place and he did look like he belonged out there 2bf. Quote

Fletcher looked very assured but I don’t think he’s earned it, and Clarke is a loyalty guy….to an extent. I’d expect Lennon miller to be brought in, none others have been consistent squad players so loyalty is limited, but fletcher is brand new and barely played first team football, I think miller has the stones and was the one who raided a few eyes missing out. Christie, Ferguson, even mctom can all play holding mid if needed. 2 Quote
Jute Posted 13 hours ago Author Report Posted 13 hours ago I think we look a better team with Gilmour in it so bit of a blow him being out. Clarke has said three players on stand by are Lennon Miller, Andy Irving and Barron. Quote

He's the only one who replaces Gilmour's ability to move the ball quickly and will try the passes the others won't. Fletcher looked decent, but doesn't offer anything we don't already have in abundance (based only on yesterday). Similarly Barron and Irving. 2 Quote
Jute Posted 11 hours ago Author Report Posted 11 hours ago Think it’s difficult to read to much into Fletcher or Curtis’s performances yesterday due to red card. For replacement for Gilmour I think it has to be Lennon Miller. Fletcher not playing enough first team games to warrant getting to a World Cup. Quote
Jute Posted 10 hours ago Author Report Posted 10 hours ago Just seen that on SSN. Bit surprised by that. Quote
tlg1903 Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago I can understand why people are saying "why not Lennon Miller?" but from what little I saw of Fletcher last night he looked far more a Gilmour type player than Miller.  Quote

Moved the ball predictably and safely, without attempting any difficult through balls or taking risks. Miller played an entire season for Motherwell lying deep, moving the ball quickly and setting the tone of the team, just like Gilmour does, but for some reason everyone thinks he's an attacking midfielder (which he's capable of too). He's similar to Clarkson for us. Obviously, I've seen very little of Fletcher, and he looked good, just similar to what we've already got. He did make some good runs into the box though. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago I thought fletcher didn’t look out of place yesterday. But at the same time, we going to see him play in the World Cup when he has such limited professional experience, and has hardly played club football, never mind international football?? I thought miller made much more sense, and if I was miller Barron or Irving, I’d be a little upset that you’re told to be on standby, then get overlooked again. Quote

Jupiter Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago It's absurd picking Fletcher when he's played more minutes for Scotland than Man U. Miller and a few other guys must be really pissed off. 1 Quote

At the same time, who would be pissed off? barron - doesn’t play for rangers regularly, not a regular under clarke irving - has he ever played under Clarke?? Couldn’t even tell you what the guy looks like. miller - prob the one ultimately missing out, but no clue how he’s done since he went to Italy?!?! Have we heard much? I think it’s been hit/miss for him both at international level and club this year. Lots of media positives about the guy in the camp this week, also makes me wonder if clarke’s claiming him for Scotland in case the boy down the road wants to play for England with his brother? Quote
