"Aberdeen were officially the worst team in Europe after an awful beginning to the season during which they lost their first seven games and won only one of their first 15 matches.
mexico were continuously ranked one of the top 5 international sides in the world
-
I'd go for a 16 team league... scrap the league cup... have scottish cup games played as a home and away leg like in Italy.
then the side that got relegated one year would come straight back up the next

i read on a forum once [could have been this one] that porterfield's 18 months in charge was statistically better than ferguson's last 18 months at aberdeen, whether it's true or not i can't be arsed finding out.
anyway
scott
w miller
the rest apart from aitken and a miller
aitken
then the cunt
-
why did a bunch of 15 year olds with a few flags and a drum require the attention of 5 or 6 policemen through out the game?
-
mark kerr for me, way ahead of everyone else.
maguire harrassed utd and his effort was faultless but there wasn't much end product.
all had pass marks apart from mulgrew, with diamond just scraping it, yes even mackie, i seen him control the ball in the second half without a third touch
-
Listened to the full match on red tv today as i refuse to pay good money to watch barron mackie,
what is bad money?
anyway i pay to watch aberdeen, there have been numerous rank players within the 35 years i've been watching them, but none so bad that they put me off watching the team, 11 bad players then you may have had a point.
before i forget, if you weren't at the game i'm not interested in your opinion

mississippi fred mcdowell - first recordings:the alan lomax series
50 years old this year

Apparently yes, but according to setanta there was a bit of a breakdown in communication rather than Zander ignoring JC.
i thought diamond gave him an awa an fuck wave
-
the corner we had with a couple of minutes left, did calderwood tell diamond to get back and defend then diamond ignored him and went forward?
-
todays ratings for me
langfield, mulgrew, diamond, severin, kerr, aluko & miller 6
duff, mcdonald 5
foster & mackie 3

I loved Strachan's comments on BBC's match report....
"The thing that let us down is that they scored four goals from four free-kicks and we have to see if there is a common denominator there and eradicate it.
the first one was a free kick in our own half, the second was cleared twice by celtic, when does it stop being a free kick and become open play?
-
Scottish sponsors would still want to sponsor the scottish product. They might not pay quite the same, but they would still support it.
was the scottish cup struggling to get a sponsor this year? the amount they pay could affect the amount teams could pay their players meaning the best may go to lower english leagues
Combined with a far more competitive league just about every team in the league having a shout for the title
we could join the highland league and be in with a shout for the title
crowds would go up - and with crowds follows media interest.
not a chance, media interest would focus on the teams that sell papers or get viewers to pay subscriptions, rangers and celtic
I think the infirm would be cap in hand to the SPL a few years after their quaint little league went tits up.
that is a very realistic possibility
Then we would be in a position to veto all this old firm bias in the power structure.
we could actually be in that position now if all the teams stuck together
-
Despite what they say, OF fans love being top dogs in Scotland and their fans love the bragging rights, however 'uncompetitive' our game is. This might lead to less youngsters showing interest in teams who they can't quite connect with and choosing to support a local team in a league where honours could be won.
the atlantic league wouldn't be geared towards rangers and celtic like the spl is, with celtic and rangers not getting any favours and maybe a couple of seasons in the middle to lower halves of the league, not qualifying for the proper european competitions [reason for a 2nd team playing in the spl?] they more than likely would lose the fans that watch them in a bar in turriff, or rather the landlord of the bar will, but i doubt if they'd go along and watch their local team as they obviously have no connection to them in the first place.
-
Every league has two or three big clubs and the SPL is no different or worse.
compared to what? you can argue that we are the third best team in the league and we've got players that can't even trap a ball, we've got players that can't even pass a ball to there own team mates even when they're not pressured by opposition players. until we got aluko we had no players with enough confidence in their own ability to run with the ball and take on a man and beat him. every league maybe has two or three big clubs but a crooked russian or a misguided sheik can change which clubs that two or three are. since we last won the league the norwegian league has been won by 6 different sides, swedish league by 8 different sides, finnish league by 8 different sides, danish league by 6 different sides, swiss league by 11 different sides, i would say these were comparable leagues. the english and italian leagues have been won by 7 different sides and the german and spanish by 5 different sides.

I guess I must be living in a parallel universe where Mackie had a good game
mackie did what mackie usually does, ran about a lot, missed a great chance, failed to spot aluko and miller when they were screaming for the ball and would've been clean through, all the running about in the world doesn't make up for that.
-
miller by a country mile [it's longer than an urban mile you know] i'm surprised by the amount of votes for jdv, he had a good game but the two that stuck out for me were miller and aluko, everyone had pass marks apart from mackie
-
and who can blame him, a chance at playing football for a couple of seasons at a mediocre scottish football team and then what? or a good few seasons as a mediocre summariser at a mediocre irish broadcaster broadcasting mediocre scottish football
-
cruising at 2-0 today until the fuckwit decided to play one up front
-
Can only be Miller. If Aluko and Miller are both out of the team at the same time then we are simply fucked.
half were out the team and we still won today.
mcdonald was the best player for me today, kerr and miller were also very good.

my first was the admiral five stripe, my favourite is probably that or the 1980 championship one

pure hatred of the most successful club in world football
if i kick the fuck out of 12 year olds repeatedly for years does that make me the hardest person in the world?
-
At least we're gettin a nice wee sum fae the SRU for hosting matches at Pittodrie. Interesting to see that Pittodrie appears to have become Scotland's base when they're playing a non-Murrayfield home match. It's good for retaining a bit of faith with the north-east rugby fans. Cos lets face it, rugby's a bit of a dying sport up in the north-east
exactly the opposite, when i was a kid no-one i knew was interested in rugby, i knew of no rugby teams at all in the area. there's now a couple of succesful rugby teams up here and plenty of people talk about the game, i would say it was on the up. shit game like.

Maybe if you spent more time supporting your team than shouting abuse at Kafflick teams and wrecking the city of Manchester, you might have won more in Europe
How?
In the past 35 years, you've been in Europe every season bar three. And yet you've failed to win anything. That's a pretty shit statistic, man! Even Aberdeen have a better record than that. What a shameful statistic to carry with you. Nevermind, at least you're the people.
the only shameful statistic is the bar three. our european record since 1985 is fucking shocking, glass houses and all that
Dodds: I turned down Celtic for Aberdeen....kind of
in Aberdeen Football Club
Posted
billy dodds was fucking shite, forrest gump with his leg braces on would've scored more if he found himself in the positions that billy doddas found himself in [found, not engineered]
