  2. From redweb

The dates for the games have now been confirmed:

25th October Panathinaikos FC v Aberdeen (AWAY)

8th November Aberdeen v Lokomotiv Moskva (HOME)

29th November Atlético de Madrid v Aberdeen (AWAY)

    6th December Free week

20th December Aberdeen v FC København (HOME)

That couldn't have worked out worse! Going to have to do some serious planning to make it to Madrid as I need to be in Amsterdam on the 30th. Will be an interesting round trip!

  3. Hibs are apparently lining up an offer for Julien Brellier of Hearts who I think is available for free. Another hat to throw into the ring?

:o What a signing that would be if we could pull it off. Brellier's a crackin player.

  4. Wee Toon,

I hope you're not implying that we have absolutely no money.  Every league has this issue. Haves V Have Nots.  Certainly we're better off than some clubs...

We have no money compared to Celtic and Rangers, and we're spending a hell of a lot less than Hearts (that doesn't mean we've got less, just we're not going to fuck the club up the way they are).

So on that score it kinda proves my point. We're above the teams we're generally better off than, and behind the two who have vastly more than we do. How can any manager be realistically expected to finish above the Old Firm over a 38 game season?

  5. However, I fear JC has taken us as far as he can. He has made us very hard to beat and put us at the top end of the league again.

Maybe he's taken us as far as a relatively poor club like Aberdeen can actually go, with the obivous exception of a cup run?

Or do you genuinely think it is realistic to expect us to regularly challenge the Old Firm again?

I agree with whoever it was asked what Jimmy has to do to win the fans over - seems like until we win the league again some of our fans will never be happy and even then they'll probably moan that we didn't do the treble or something.

  6. Strangely I’m a bit disappointed, even though it was a great goal. I was sure he was further out last night, and he took on more than one player.

Love it, our goal of the season and you're still not happy  :P

Are we back on AFC HAT?  ;)

  7. Even so, only 2 games for ASSAULTING a player on the park?

As said previously in this thread it should have been a straight red!

He shouldn't even have still been on the pitch IMO due to his reaction to his 1st yellow. I've seen players off for much less.

Just passing on what I read.

Wasn't at the game and only saw a quick clip on the telly so can't really comment on the challenge, except to say it looked pretty reckless at first viewing.

  8. Footnoe to the previous post on Kingston.

He gets a 2nd Yellow in a game when it should have been a red - Hitting from behind with obvious intent to injure and then makes racist comments to the ref before leaving and in the media scrum.

    His suspension... 2 games ???:o

I would love to see the referee's report on this one.

I could be wrong but I think the two game ban is solely for his first sending off and he has still to be dealt with for his reaction to that. I'm sure I read that on the BBC or in the paper.

  9. I think Jimmy might be more likely to go with something along these lines:

    -------------------Langfield---------------------

    ---Hart  Considine  Anderson  Foster---

    --------------------Seve--------------------------

    -----------------Clark Smith--------------------

    --Mackie--------------------------------Lovell--

    ---------------------Brewster---------------------

  10. Unfortunately I'm still not overly confident about Saturday. I don't mean to be pessimistic but the huns seem to be getting back to their jammy winning ways and with their favourite referee in charge it's going to be a big ask for us.

The way we're defending does give us a chance tho, so fingers crossed :-\

  11. I only managed to catch the last 5 mins of the game and by the sounds of it I was quite lucky.

    Oh you were really lucky!

I figured that if we won and I hadn't watched it then no real harm done, whereas if I had watched it and we didn't get the 3 points I'd just have been gutted, so I went to training instead.  ;D

  12.

If this does hapen, I'd be quite happy to see Lee Mair at Pittodrie, if he can regain the form he showed at Dundee.

I agree with this man. I don't think he is being targeted to replace Russell but just as some extra, reasonably cheap and experienced, cover with the potential to establish himself in the first team.

Let's face it, almost anyone we could afford to sign in place of Russell, if he was to leave, wouldn't be as good as el capitan anyway.

  13. Wee toon red - have been since the old afc chat ( :)

Don't get to see the Dons as often as i'd like due to playing football on a Saturday and living about 150 miles south west of glasgow - just think how far away pittodrie is!

My first Dons game was in 1986/7ish at Ibrox in a 1-0 defeat.

I like beer very much but have just successfully completed one dry weekend of a planned five.
