  1. get your point yeah, but if we only picked up 3 wins in his last 16 games...how well must we have been doing in the first 22 to amass as many points to keep us in 4th!!

as im sure you know, you need to judge at the end of the season and we finished 4th and qualified for Europe. thats the minimum we should be looking at i think, with the off exceptional season thrown in.

jimmy would ALWAYS deliver the minimum, thats the club he built in 5 years.

i honestly believe given another 5 years, he'd have moved us on again

thats why he got sacked, played it too safe when there was no need for it. A good manager but scared of failure, which go figure ended in him failing

  2. Excellent a new toy to play with, merry christmas stoney.

    haha

under jimmy, i expected us to win at home to anyone. even the old firm.

But we didnt, teams like hamilton and cally thistle were pumping us, not to mention hibs etc

under jimmy i knew we'd at least put up a bit of a fight in glasgow too.

Did we? never won at ibrox think we got a draw, but then again we drew there under paterson and beat celtic at parkhead so that wasnt much of an improvement there, more a continuation if you will, he was scared to get beat and set his team out that way, a more postive manager with the players we had at the time would have done betterunder jimmy i knew we'd be fighting for europe most seasons

under jimmy i knew we'd get to the latter stages of the cups most seasons

Two semis in 4 years? Breath taking how many first or second round exits?

under jimmy i knew we had a manager who loved not only the club, but the city

he had us as an established top 4 SPL team, one teams feared coming to play against and one who had put their name back on the european map

Including twice scraping into the "top 4" in the last two games, how many points behind third were we in those two seasons?

he done all of that within what, 5 years of taking over the mess he did

What mess? It was a bloody good team he inherited - twice as good as the one he left us withimagine what he could have done if he was given ANOTHER 5 years? - relegated us, the warning signs were there for all to see in jimmys last season, dont know many people who didnt predict our downfall he left a season too late in my opinion

thing is though matey, who knows how much further he could have, given time?

everyone harks back to alex ferguson all the time Who does?

ok, at man u, how soon did he make significant process?

jimmy transformed our team and club in 5 years into what i described above. What a middle of the road team with one of the worst cup records in the league?

imagine what he could do with another 5 years.

jimmy himself was a big personality and for that reason, he was able ot handle big personality players.

Your Langfields, your Diamonds, your Alukos.  :lolabove: :lolabove:

  3. If you think I'm fishing about Walker I'm not. At least Walker had first team experience with the players when he played against Bayern, however minimal it was.

    Pittodrie's also never hostile

No no Aluko came on in the pana game, after we were 3-0 down and most of the dons fans had any life left in their deflated bodies  :hammer:

  4. I honestly expected us to smash panathinaikos! They were awful (copenhagen even beat them) all of their fans we spoke to during the game were expecting us to win.  We went out there and played a 5-4-1 and left Aluko, JDV and Lovell on the bench! We didnt even get a shot on target. Atletico - better opposition but again made it very easy for them at least we got a shot on target in that game though!  ::)

  5. There was loads to talk about. On top of that win we reached 2 domestic semi-finals and in our next European game one of the biggest teams in the world had to fight hard to get a draw.

Aye shame most of it was talked about for the wrong reasons

And remind me how those two semi finals went? Conceding 8 goals against two lesser teams! Brilliant stuff.

Semi finals and top 6 finishes a legacy that will soon be forgotton.

  6. That's entertainment. Getting pumped that is, congas during humpings, that is what football is all about.

lol Not what i was saying............But it is what you were saying! Dont make the past 10 years out to be anything else than the dissaster it has been.

As a football club over the past 15 years we have been a failure, an abject one at that. We had a couple of above average seasons where we finished 3rd but apart from that - on the whole, over the course of a season we have been shite. All of our managers have failed on some level. Some more than others. But saying a manager who spent the best part of 4 million quid and swapped one of our top scorers is the same as a manager who has had to rely on Youngstars and free transfers is warper beyond belief.

No wonder the club is in such a state.

King Ebbe may have beaten both Moldovian greats Nistru Otaci and Irish giants Bohemians, but I recon King Jimmys draws against Bayern, Lokomotiv and Dnipro are more impressive. Not to mention his second half performance against Copenhagen where he managed to get more goals than in all 6 of King Ebbes games put together.

Depends on which way you choose to look at things! Might have scored more goals in 1 game but also conceded more  Plus got a draw (should have been two) and a win away from Home in Europe! Much better than King Jimmys 1 *Lucky* draw
