That offer for Leigh Griffiths should calm the crazy Livingston chairman down a bit..

Wish to fuck our board had that kind of money to throw at our squad - here's hoping some dumb yank related to ESPN has been conned into investing

  2. If it is McGhee then good luck to him, am going to keep the welcome aboard until the deal is done.

    This quote here is unsettling ;

"If I had left when offered the Hearts job a year ago my contract would have been extraordinarily better than the one I was on at Motherwell," McGhee went on. "That does not apply with the Aberdeen job so it is not about money.

    And now look at this..

    http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/scottish/scottish_sport/346903/Swans-wants-Csaba-Laszlo-to-replace-Roberto-Martinez-Wigan-Hearts.html

It couldnt happen could it - Hearts succumb to a bid for Laszlo then Dingus delays due to offer by them..

  3. So Montana it is ok if we finish in the bottom 6 next season as long as we have had loads of injuries  ;)

I would be appalled if Aberdeen finished in Bottom 6 next season and I sincerely hope they don't. Calderwood has left a good platform for whoever comes in to continue improving the respectability we have taken 5 years to earn, it will certainly be interesting to see how our new boss copes with the benchmark he has set.

Football is a results business and Top 6 is minimum we can expect from any manager regardless of injuries. WM demands league stages of the Europa League, although I think that is a big ask am happy to use that as a measure against our new boss whoever they may be..

  4. In November and December, Scott Leitch and I worked really hard to keep the heads up of those who were there and believe there was a day soon when they would get some help.

"That's where I feel I did my best work. I feel if I had let it slip then, by the time the likes of Stephen Craigan, David Clarkson, Stephen Hughes and Paul Quinn were back our position would not be recoverable.

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/motherwell/2009/04/04/my-kids-wanted-me-to-quit-motherwell-after-fans-abuse-reveals-mark-mcghee-86908-21252651/

Just looking back they did have the entire core of their team injured so I think its fair to say Motherwell had it rougher than some other teams, interesting to read in the same article the 2-0 defeat by Hamilton, also complete cunts to us last season, nearly made him walk away. If he thinks that was pressure then beware the mob of 7 folk outside Pittodrie with bits of A4 adorned with MMG in the future..

Will be truly laughing my cock off if after our first defeat its described as sloppy..

  5. I think McGhee did okay at Motherwell - the first season saw some awesome football. If he came to Pittodrie and replicated the early form they showed then that is the medicine we all need. Calderwood for all the stability and progress made the game more often than not dull. I think many of our fans would be happy with a cup win and bottom 6 finishes if the product on the pitch was more enjoyable, although finishes in the league of this nature would soon hound another manager out the door.

At Motherwell they lost their main midfield presence, their best goal threat and played on a pitch that looked like a field, these factor plus a budget considerably less than ours make McGhee an enticing proposition. This season saw them sustain a number of injuries over winter and without those then I think they would have finished above Hibs.

I have never been an out and out fan of McGhee and question his ability to sustain a challenge - something I saw as underlined by him signing Bob Malcolm and also Calderwood trumping him on tactics on a couple of occasions.

Whoever it tunrs out to be they will get 100% support that goes without saying, right now am more interested in the players who are out there we could attract and what budget is attached to the new position - then we will really see Aberdeens ambition. Dorman, Barr, Arfield, Cregg to name a few

  6. It seems folk are already sharpening their knives and looking for excuses should McGhee underperform, should he get the job ! Whats next MIG / MMG..?

    Unreal.

He is affiliated with both teams, Celtic have a bigger budget, chance of Champions League - its a no brainer. I would be questioning his ambition if he did not consider the Celtic job a bigger draw..

Whats still good about us getting him, should it pan out that way, is that it'll stick in the throats of the Jambos, however happy they are with Laszlo at present they still had a jizzfest over the prospect of getting Dingus and only the temptation of the Celtic job a year down the line stopped him.

I do think it would be funny though if he was interviewed, WM picked someone else and Dingus ended up stuck at Motherwell , i only see him being around for 2 seasons or so if he does get the gig.

  7. I don't think we can judge anyone until the nature of the offers on the table are made clear.

For all we know McGhee is signed sealed and delivered as AFC manager agreed last week.

For all we know Aberdeen have already been turned down by McGhee.

The simple fact is we don't know and we cannot go judging folk. Especially when this person concerned could turn out to be our new manager requiring 100% support form all Dons fans.

As for MIG MMG - please not all that shite again...

Ajja - heard the same story you just posted from a Jambo prior to Laslo being appointed

  8. The payouts were end of season lump sums due by Setanta relative to league position, est. between 150K and 300K to each SPL team.

Journos reported that 3 teams would be in serious trouble - hard to see how a payment of up to just 300K could put a club under.

Surely not one of Top 6.

Kilmarnock - in massive debt - surely one of the threatened teams.

Falkirk - releasing loads of players but statement today advised still have budget available for playing staff.

Motherwell- administration once and their pitch surely needs a lot of cash thrown at it to repair.

Hearts- who knows ? surely 300k is a drop in the ocean compared to the other £30 million or so they owe.

Us - we wouldnt be shelling out to get rid of managerial staff if we were reliant on these funds.

    Hamilton - ????

    St Mirren - ????

The main problem now is that next seasons cash will disappear if Setanta fold and that leaves everyone with massive budget cuts to deal with.

I think we can all agree that I win and move on from this tedious bullshit.

Nae if its announced today :o:thumbsup:

  10. Good luck to Lee Mair

I think his best performance in a Dons shirt was against Bayern at home and this can be a proud memory for him. Like Duff he was a Dons fan and has worn the Red Jersey something we can only dream about.

I don't think we saw the best of him due to positional changes. Agree with Kowalski thought he was better than Considine, possibly the better of 2 evils at times.

Leaves us scarce in Central Defence now if Seve manages to con a doctor and get a contract somewhere else..

  11. Aberdeen Arena - pro's AA fits with most of our support; cons - sounds up its own arse.

Loirston - dont think this has any ring to it whatsoever - boring.

Pittodrie - 2 places can be called the same thing surely I like the dungheap

The New Beach End - like this idea - although thats probably due to memories of being sat in the Beachend rather than the name.

The South Stand - cant imagine going to watch the Dons and not say thats where am sitting.

Stand Free - cheesy but good.

Stands named after folk / things - The Ullevi Stand is the only one I like.
