No offence, but you must have been watching a different game. Did you watch a rerun of an old DUFC match with Mark Kerr in a starring role? The boy was mince. As for Gary MacDonald, he's just a mediocre Kille reject who did nowt in "Endgland", and was lucky enough for a club to come in for him and take him back north of the border.
Taxi for Kerr .......?
Never said that Kerr had a good game by any stretch of the imagination ("the centre of midfield really is a shambles at the moment" was a bit of a giveaway ). I just said that he at least put a few tackles in. McDonald may as well have been sitting in the centre circle for 120 minutes for all that he contributed.

Couldn't believe folk were telling me last night they thought Kerr was having a good game!
Mince as usual.
Kerr was certainly the better out of him and McDonald; at least Kerr got stuck in. The centre of midfield really is a shambles at the moment though. They don't seem to have the slightest clue what they should be doing.
I had a Mackie fan in front of me last night
Watching Mackie last night I've decided that he actually makes the right decision a lot of the time, he just doesn't have the talent to do what he was trying to do.

Does McGhee not have a bit of history when it comes to picking fights?
Yup. My cousin is a Brighton fan and reckons that he'd fallen out with half of their first team squad by the time he left. My guess is that Aluko has been wanting to leave since Calderwood got the boot. Jimmy was one of the main reasons he signed in the first place.

Whilst I don't wanna try making excuses for this sort of action ...
The Record is saying the reported incidents have happened in the opening three games of the season. Erm, excuse me but we've not played in Dundee yet.
Pre-season?

Just noticed this on the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8149200.stm
Had to double check that I wasn't reading the story of Faust.

I nominate this picture for www.awkwardboners.com.

Why does nobody watch Battlestar, I'm lonely and I want to talk sci-fi with a human twist
Haven't seen any of the current series yet but I got the DVD's for season 4 last month so I've just finished getting through them. I can't help but think that it's lost it a little bit though. I think I preferred it when it was more human-race's-imminent-demise rather than human-robot-rumpy-pumpy.

I've mostly been watching the first series of The Wire through Virgin's On Demand service.
This programme has been hyped up a lot and I really fancied it, but can't say i'm overly impressed with it. It's good enough to watch it through to the end, but there is a real cheesy feel to some of it... ie the maverick cop, the cop who has been stashed away in some back office for 20 years but it turns out he's Bergerac, Columbo and Crocket & Tubbs all rolled into one, and some of the writing is a bit too stereotypical Yank cop drama fare.
Has anyone watched the later series' at all?
Got the whole lot on DVD. Some of it is a bit cheesy but the third series in particular is brilliant.

everyone had pass marks apart from mackie
I guess I must be living in a parallel universe where Mackie had a good game

20. He once made up a list of BNP members and posted it online.

He was like Bambi on ice on Tuesday night. Totally inept performance and should be nowhere near the game tomorrow.
The decision to take him off was certainly loudly cheered in the RDS.
The RDS is a funny place though, Langfield kicks the ball long but overhits Miller and goes through to St.Mirren keeper and loud boos ring out. Within a minute he has the ball again but takes more time and the RDS get restless shouting at him to get on with it, hits Miller who flicks it on and Mackie doesnt get to it, more boos. Funny as fuck, you just knew he wasnt going to get it right!!
I was under the impression that the boos Langfield got were down to him punting it up the field instead of throwing it to either the full back (who always seemed to be in acres of space)?

tv on the radio - dear science
Got this yesterday - really liking it so far. Seems a little less leftfield than Return to Cookie Mountain.

He's gone to Blackpool. I guess the Grampian Eye just doesn't cut the mustard

James Naughtie? My mum went to school with him, didn't realise he supported Aberdeen.
I think he was at university up here.

Donnie Murdo?
Cripes DM!

I'd love to know when Prunty had his good game for us! Fucking cunt of a player.
One of my mates reckoned that the only explanation for the number of shots he sent over the bar was that he had spoons for feet. Terrible terrible player.

Got the Fleet Foxes album last week - top stuff.

Heh. Just did a search for free agents aged 24+ and Alan Maybury was 4th on the list, pictured in a Dons top no less!

5 minutes well spent while I was having a coffee just now

Miller for me, although Seve also worthy.

It's the lack of any scouting system that baffles me. For example, Dundee Utd have picked up the likes of Gomis, Swanson and Conway from the lower leagues and they've done a decent job in the SPL. Similarly Motherwell picked up a couple of gems in the summer with Porter and Hughes. Make your own mind up whether or not they are Aberdeen-class, but the league table doesn't lie.
Couldn't agree more. Hughes wasn't exactly an unknown quantity in Scotland and if I can look in a newspaper and see that Chris Porter was scoring goals for fun in League 1 last season then surely someone at the club must be capable of seeing the same information and saying "worth a look?". The whole scouting network seems to be shambolic (to say the least), but what do we expect from a club that signs youth players based on their physical size at age 14 instead of their ability?

Ouch. Very strong words from Joe Harper. Can't say I disagree with what he's saying though.
Edit: Just noticed that the article says he defended Willie Miller but if you listen to the interview he actually says that Miller should be out looking for people who will put money into the club.
