  1. A journo mate of mine is saying Hart is wanted by Plymouth this January and it will be in tomorrows papers.

Unless its all about money (which it usually is) surely the opportunity to play in the last 32 of the UEFA cup is a bigger carrot then Plymouth.

  2. Hearts Res. 1 Aberdeen Res. 2

First half goals from Sone Aluko and Michael Paton gave the young Dons an excellent win over Hearts at Forthbank.

Aberdeen went in front after 16 minutes when an excellent clearance from Andy Considine found Aluko who beat two defenders before finishing clinically.

Three minutes before the break a Jon Smith effort rebounded to Michael Paton who made no mistake.

Hearts pulled one back in 73 minutes when Finnish striker Jual Makela scored from close range.

Aberdeen - Kelly, Crawford, D. Smith, McVitie, Skinner (S. Smith 13), Considine, Jon Smith, Kurrant (Lamberty 46), Paton, Maguire, Aluko.

    Subs - Bateman, Ross, Carroll.

  3. TOUZANI TRAINING INJURY SETBACK

    08:50 - 11 December 2007

The bizarre circumstances surrounding Aberdeen defender Karim Touzani's latest injury have been revealed.

The Dutchman has an infection in a gaping leg wound he suffered on Friday afternoon.

Touzani's injury happened during training on the eve of game against Kilmarnock.

Dons manager Jimmy Calderwood said: "We were playing skill games, split into two teams, with the worst player getting the dreaded yellow jersey.

"Jimmy Nicholl thought up one where the ball had to be chipped over the crossbar and headed at the other side. Karim slid in to head the ball and collided with the metal behind the post, with his leg opening up."

The Dons will hold further talks with Zander Diamond, Barry Nicholson, Jamie Langfield, Chris Clark and Michael Hart this week as they press for an answer on contract offers made to the five players.

Weekend reports, stemming from agent Martyn McNeill, claiming Diamond is keen to try his luck in English football have been dismissed by the defender.

Calderwood said: "Willie Miller plans to speak to the out of contract players this week and I am sure there will be a few meetings. I get the impression they are all positive, so it should be a case of completing the finishing touches.

"Zander came in and apologised for the story on Saturday, which came from his agent. He is really positive and I know he doesn't want to leave the club - if I'm talking to him one to one then I think I would have him signed, but when agents are involved it can make it harder."

  4. Can't say I'm losing any sleep over this.  Don't mind the Dons for trying and don't mind Motherwell for saying no.  Life goes on.

Don't mind JC if rests some players for this game (Copenhagen game is MASSIVE).  We have done quite well this season when our so-called fringe players have started (e.g. DUFC game).

  5. i wonder about some peoples agenda's are in general amongst the aberdeen support - not just on afc chat... honestly think some people enjoy being prophets of doom beause it makes them seem more self important.

Things are going good for the club just now but you'd think it was back to the steve paterson days!

...although, whoever start the Larsson rumour must have a sense of humour!!!

    Indeed.

Doesn't matte how well we are doing, there are always some fans whose pints are half empty, and that goes for all clubs.

  6. I don't mind AFC chat - Just passing comment that it has been FULL of unfounded transfer rumours for the past couple of days.

Today its all doom and gloom again.  Either some seriously deluded folk on that site, or people are constantly fishing with the negative remarks all the time.

  7. From this morning's P&J.  Not clear whether this is an editorial statement or who it is that is asking for the postponement of the Motherwell game...

REDS NEED ALL HELP THEY CAN GET

    08:50 - 10 December 2007

Aberdeen are entering a critical phase of their season and, despite injuries leaving their squad patchier than the missing canoeist's memory, they do so energised, thanks to both their own progress up the SPL and Wednesday's Uefa Cup results.

Having previously succeeded only in doing them over, Panathinaikos and Atletico Madrid found themselves doing Aberdeen a favour in midweek, delivering their European fate back into their own hands.

With two impressive December home wins, the Dons will be confident of making it a hat-trick and knocking over FC Copenhagen's Lego.

If they are to do so and become only the second Scottish team to escape a Uefa Cup group since the stage was introduced, they could do with a little help from within. Challenging on three fronts, Aberdeen played more games in October and November than the elves in Santa's quality control department.

It has taken its toll, with almost every outfield player forced to miss at least one match, even the indestructible Chris Clark who would normally only sit it out if a leg fell off too close to kick-off to have it reattached in time.

Aberdeen will need something close to their first 11 to beat the Danes and can encounter no mishaps in the next 10 days.

The Dons must seek the postponement of Saturday's visit to Motherwell in order to give the walking wounded the chance to rest and get the healthy few wrapped in cotton wool - and the SPL, after similarly acceding to excuse Rangers a visit to Fir Park before their Euro tie, must see that it is done.

It would have to be Motherwell thrown up by the fixture computer given the row over January's postponement request but, with a Dons European legend at the helm, Well are more likely to co-operate this season.

  8. Great result, and some other results going our way!

We were a different team in the 2nd half with Clark moved from central midfield.

Two games in a row we've come from behind; we don't do that very often!

3rd is definitely do-able.  This is turning into quite an exciting season...

  9. yeah becuase anyone who's not a glory hunter lives near enough to go to games regularly, if they were a REAL fan they would move to Aberdeen to go to games more often

::) I really wanted a "I shaks ma heid" smiley but this will have to do

Fair enough, I'll hold my hand up, I didn't realise we had that many fans that lived closer to Madrid than Aberdeen.

  10. They've also just taken all the away international fixtures away from the BBC.

SETANTA SECURES ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

Setanta will be the only place where fans will be able to watch England’s grueling away matches against Croatia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Andorra in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

This means that next season, the 2008/09 season will feature exclusively live coverage of 7 England Internationals (including friendlies), around 25 FA Cup Games, the FA Community Shield and 46 Barclays Premier League games.

We will also be broadcasting all of Scotland’s away qualifiers in Group 9 including Holland, Norway, Macedonia and Iceland, Wales’ tricky ties in Russia, Finland and Azerbaijan and most of the away-legs of the qualifiers involving the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Fans wanting to keep up with all the action from all the Home Nations qualifying groups will want to stay tuned to Setanta as we have also got the rights to 72 additional games in the build up to the World Cup.

Will there be any live football at all on the BBC soon?  Damn shame if you ask me.

  11. STAY AT HOME FANS MISSED A SUNDAY FEAST

    12:00 - 03 December 2007

Some of you lot out there should hang your heads in shame.

Little more than 10,000 of a crowd - and fair number of them Hibs fans at that - for a game like this was a disgrace.

Plenty so called "fans" came out of the woodwork quickly enough when European tickets were up for grabs.

But now that the excitement of Madrid and the like is by, some of you pathetic part timers decided doing the Christmas shopping or watching on the telly was a better option.

Once again, it was down to the genuine die-hards to give the Dons the backing they needed.

Thankfully, they were rewarded with one of the most exciting and entertaining 90 minutes seen at Pittodrie this season.

The Dons went into the game under intense pressure because a defeat would see them drop 11 points behind Hibs in the SPL.

They were also without several top team regulars but responded by absolutely hammering the Hibees, who were lucky to get away with a 3-1 defeat.

Despite so many absentees, Calderwood still chose to rest skipper Scott Severin. Hibs weren't so fortunate, with their influential skipper Rob Jones ruled out by a knock. They really missed him.

I always love clashes with Hibs, the fact there'd only been one 0-0 draw in the previous 40 meetings between the clubs gives you an idea why.

You knew from the first minute, when Derek Young knocked an effort wide, that there would be goals somewhere.

The only shock was the first one coming from Hibs because they got a right doing.

Nicholson and Maguire both went close twice each before Hibs took the lead in the 24th minute with a classic counter attack. They broke forward at pace and Zemmama split the Dons defence with a crossfield pass to Steven FLETCHER, who wasunmarked on the left. The striker showed great composure as he side-stepped a Mair challenge then hammered a great 16 yard shot past Langfield.

The Dons could have crumbled, instead they showed guts and grit.

Great combination play between Foster and Clark down the left led to the 33rd minute equaliser. The move ended with Clark's excellent cross leaving Makalamby stranded and Lee MILLER powered a close range header into the net at the back post. The Dons deservedly went ahead in the 47th minute. Nicholson knocked a free-kick short to Chris CLARK and his powerful 20 yard shot took a wicked deflection off a Hibs defender and spun high past the stranded Ma-Kalamby.

It was a matter of how many from then on as the Hibs keeper saw shots rain in on him.

Miller's header from substitute Severin's cross was saved. Nicholson almost made it 3-1 in the 75th minute, but Ma-Kalamby denied him by flying across like Superman to knock away the midfielder's clever 22 yard free-kick. He tried again with a 20 yard shot but this time the effort scraped inches wide of the target.

Aberdeen sealed their victory in style when Nicholson played a quick free-kick in from the left to Derek YOUNG and he sent a shot into the net from the edge of the area.

It was a real Sunday treat for all of those who really care about the Dons.

  12. I am trying to quantify what percentage of dons got robbed, it was at the very very minimum 10%. Everyone I met had someone in their group who had been robbed, we were doing by far the best at one wallet from 30 odd of us (well until the Liverpool baggage handlers got to Jutes bag  ::) ). I must have met over 150 people who had various things stolen.

Saw a guy away to try Dundee_reds pockets in the Metro station, and had to get Dundees attention

Certainly felt like a good third of our support may have been robbed judging by the amount of folk I met who knew someone that was robbed or was robbed themselves.  Not sure if Madrid is like this all the time or if there was a special effort from the pick pockets due to the number of (drunk?) fans there.  My mate got pick-pocketed in Barcelona once, but it was nowhere near as bad as Madrid.
